Peugeot e-208 - automotive review

British portal Autocar has published an exhaustive test of the Peugeot e-208. The car was appreciated for its good price / quality ratio and a pleasant interior. The downside was the feeling of heaviness, slowness on the track and little space for passengers in the back seat.

Peugeot e-208 technical data:

  • segment: B (city cars),
  • battery capacity: 45 (50) kWh,
  • reception: 340 WLTP units, real range of about 290 km in mixed mode,
  • drive: front (FWD),
  • power: 100 kW (136 HP)
  • torque: 260 Nm,
  • loading capacity: 311 liters,
  • weight: 1 kg, +455 kg in relation to the combustion version,
  • price: from PLN 124,
  • competition: Opel Corsa-e (same base), Renault Zoe (larger battery), BMW i3 (more expensive), Hyundai Kona Electric (B-SUV segment), Kia e-Soul (B-SUV segment).

Peugeot e-208 = most powerful model in the 208 range

The electric Peugeot 208 is the only model in the new 208 series to be offered as a GT variant (not to be confused with the GT Line). Not surprisingly, the car has the most powerful drive with maximum torque. What in an internal combustion engine requires the use of a [bigger] turbine and increases combustion, this is done in an electric car.

The driving experience is similar to that of other electricians: a Peugeot e-208 can fly out from under the headlights, leaving an internal combustion car behind. However, the car feels best when driving slowly and normally. Dynamic acceleration stops at speeds above 80 km / h., the electrician becomes like his fuel brothers.

This is especially noticeable on the track. Driving at the speed limit is possible, but requires a “surprisingly hard” pressure on the accelerator pedal and affects the range. The car is well soundproofed, standard equipment - acoustic windshield, i.e. sound-absorbing glass.

Visually Peugeot e-208 looks very good... The reviewer even counted it most successful small Peugeot in recent years... Also, the interior is well thought out and aesthetically pleasing, although, as always, there was a theme of counters. The manufacturer decided that they should be located above the steering wheel, so with some of its settings, the upper part darkens the displayed information.

It's a shame, because the higher trim levels have gauges that show the data in a simulated XNUMXD view.

The seats are soft and comfortable driver's seating position is quite lowthanks to which there is a lot of space above the head. According to the reviewer, this provides good human-to-vehicle contact, while we had to get used to the feeling of hovering right over the road.

Rear passengers will fit snugly... Only with softly tuned suspensionwhich, however, can lead to excessive body roll on winding roads.

The plastics in the cabin are of good quality, although cheap inserts can spoil the overall effect. There is plenty of storage space in the cabin, and the luggage compartment volume is 311 liters (1 liter with the seatbacks reclined) - exactly the same as in the internal combustion engine.

Usually Peugeot e-208 got 4 points out of 5. and it has been found to combine great looks, performance, driving feel and range, although it lacks the practicality of any other city car.
