Peugeot e-208 - real range up to 290 km at 90 km / h, but less than 190 km at 120 km / h [video]

Bjorn Nyland checked the real power reserve of the Peugeot e-208. The problem is important because the same base is used in the Opel Corsa-e, DS 3 Crossback E-Tense or Peugeot e-2008, so their results should be easily inferred from the results achieved by the e-208. The electric Peugeot tested by Nyland performed well at low speeds, but poorly at 120 km / h.

Peugeot e-208, technical characteristics:

  • segment: B,
  • battery capacity: ~ 46 (50) kWh,
  • stated range: 340 WLTP units, 291 km real range in mixed mode [calculated by www.elektrowoz.pl],
  • power: 100 kW (136 HP)
  • torque: 260 Nm,
  • drive: front wheel drive (FWD),
  • price: from PLN 124, from PLN 900 in the shown GT version,
  • competition: Opel Corsa-e (same base), Renault Zoe (larger battery), BMW i3 (more expensive), Hyundai Kona Electric (B-SUV segment), Kia e-Soul (B-SUV segment).

Peugeot e-208 - range test

Bjorn Nyland conducts his tests on the same route, possibly under similar conditions, so his measurements allow for realistic comparisons between different cars. Unfortunately, with e-208, it was confirmed what other YouTube users reported: PSA Group's line of e-CMP vehicles with 50 kWh battery is moderately goodif we're going to drive them quickly. The results are not much better than the previous generation Renault Zoe.

During the measurements, the temperature was several degrees Celsius, so at 20+ degrees the maximum range will be slightly higher.

> Is the real range of the Peugeot e-2008 just 240 kilometers?

Peugeot e-208 GT with a fully charged battery can travel up to 292 kilometers at a speed of 90 km / h.... This gives a real consumption of 15,4 kWh / 100 km (154 Wh / km). More than a BMW i3, less than a VW e-Up or even an e-Golf. By the way, Nyland has calculated that the battery has a usable capacity of only 45 kWh. Other users report 46 kWh:

Driving fast over long distances can make sense when we have access to a large number of 100kW charging stations. At a speed of 120 km / h, the Peugeot e-208 is capable of covering 187 kilometers. and this is provided that we discharge the battery to zero. If we take into account the necessary margin to reach the charging station and the maximum charging power, it turns out that we have about 130 km at our disposal.

This means Peugeot e-208 and other e-CMP vehicles with 50 kWh battery (total capacity) are suitable for fast drive within a radius of 100-150 kilometers. They will feel much better. in the city, where low speeds will allow them to overcome about 300 or even more kilometers - here The decisive factor is the result of the WLTP procedure, which gives 340 units.

> Peugeot e-208 and fast charge: ~ 100 kW only up to 16 percent, then ~ 76-78 kW and gradually decreases

If we consider a route with a length of more than 300 kilometers, Hyundai-Kia vehicles with 64 kWh batteries are better suited.
