Captured Raptor 650

Since the Malaysians have saved finances and brought new capital and new people to this once very successful brand with an elephant as a trademark, we saw the first result at the presentation of the new Raptor 650. (fuel) and celebrated its authentic Italian design.

One thing is for sure: the Raptor 650 is one of the most beautiful mid-range roadsters around. The goal was clear: to create a motorcycle that would be sold in a large domestic market next to the Ducati Monster 620. Looking at the aerodynamically curved minimalist windshield above the round headlight, harmonious side lines, twin tailpipes and stripped bodywork. Beautifully crafted tubular steel frame we have no complaints.

The Cagiva has everything a modern motorcycle of this class should have. USD front fork, pair of 298mm brake discs, light weight (dry weight 180kg), powerful engine with high torque and undemanding handling.

The Raptor has everything, even more! The ride really impressed with its unpretentiousness, which cannot but please beginners and girls, because you can control this motorcycle with the help of gentle female levers. But that's not all: he convinced us, probably really slightly spoiled journalists, with his athletic character, which he certainly boasts. However, the decision on whether to be kinder or slightly more aggressive is primarily up to the driver. It was nice to drive slowly between corners where we were lazy, shifting gears in a precise gearbox and accelerating just by adding throttle. It satisfied our drive for sporty cornering with more decisive throttle.

The engine is capable of developing 74 perfectly positioned "horses" up to 9.000 rpm, the frame and geometry of the motorcycle allow you to quickly and accurately change direction, while maintaining calmness even in long fast corners. Of course, we can't talk about supersport capabilities, but in a very user-friendly way, the Cagiva combines a little of everything, a little of the sportiness and characteristics of a touring bike.

We recorded the ride because it is one of the most comfortable mid-range motorcycles. The driver sits upright enough to drive tirelessly (the aerodynamic shield over the headlamp helps a lot), and the navigator will be impressed by the comfortable seat and passenger leg setting. The Raptor would probably have looked even better (sportier) with a smaller passenger seat, but Cagiva explained to us that they opted for a larger seat quite deliberately and with a clear goal of providing comfort to the passengers.

The Raptor 650 is proof that Cagiva has not forgotten how to make a good bike. This is not the cheapest price at 1 797.120 tolars, but it would be unfair to say that it is overpriced. This is a motorcycle for the body, mind and soul, for relaxation. We don't expect them to buzz our roads with cheap Japanese bikes, but whoever gets on a new Raptor already knows why. Being different from the majority is just one of the reasons.
