Pneumatic test: Pirelli Diablo Corsa II

In recent days, Pirelli has unveiled its biggest novelty of the season in South Africa, the tire. Pirelli Diablo Corsa II... It is a road tire manufactured by an Italian company based on the experience gained during the superbike world championship and is special in that it is made up of several different compounds. Thus, the front tire consists of two different mixtures, divided into three regions, and the rear tire consists of three different mixtures, located in five regions. Given its roots, it's understandable that they chose a newly refurbished racetrack to showcase the tire. Kyalami.

We tested the tire on four different engines: Honda CBR 1000 SP, KTM-u 1290 Super Duke R, MV Agusti F3 Corsa in BMW jevemu S 1000 R... So there are four different motorcycles, two naked motorcycles designed for dynamic road riding, and two that engineers took inspiration from on the racetracks, where owners probably take them from time to time.

Pirelli cites its structure as the biggest advantage of the new tire, as the tire, as already mentioned, is made up of several different compounds, which should provide both optimal traction and long service life. The latter is supposed to be provided by the rigid structure of the tire mid-section, which becomes softer and softer at the edges, thus providing optimal grip even in slightly tighter corners. This was best shown in MV Agusti, which, compared to the other three test engines, does not have such sophisticated electronics, but it was still possible to drive it completely around the edge, or, as we say, “up to the elbow”, with great confidence. .

On the other hand, a test with Super Duke KTM... Namely, it is the so-called "naked" motorcycle, which, due to the lack of armor, offers slightly less stability, and at the same time, as the motorcycle with the largest drive volume, also the most torque. Nevertheless, the tire also showed excellent performance on this bike, the grip was always optimal, and despite the dynamic ride, there was no fear of the bike losing traction and slipping.

What were the feelings after driving the BMW, which we left until the very end, see the video:

The tires are already available at the Špan Mobility Center in Brezovica, which is also the official Pirelli tire dealer in Slovenia, and are available in all sizes suitable for modern motorcycles.
