Many sellers convince customers that it is vital - unless, of course, the driver wants to ruin his brand new car even before the first MOT. But what is this very running-in and is it really so important, the AvtoVzglyad portal found out.

Probably, almost all drivers experience a sweet feeling of euphoria, rolling out of the gates of a car dealership in a brand new car. However, coupled with childish joy, indescribable delight, exultation and pleasure, car owners feel anxiety and concern for their iron friend.

This is quite natural, because every normal driver wants his "swallow" to serve as long as possible - we do not take into account major students, moneybags and lippy regulars in social networks. And therefore, the question of whether running in can extend the life of a car is very relevant.

There is a lot of heated debate in the circles of motorists on this topic. Some write on the Internet that a particularly careful attitude to the car in the first couple is a relic of the past, they say, modern devices do not need such procedures, they are run in at production stands. Others, foaming at the mouth, prove the opposite, pointing to the technical illiteracy and bungling of the former. Add fuel to the fire and dealers, who for so many years can not agree on a single opinion, advising customers who are in what much.

In general, running in a car is an operating mode supposedly necessary for “grinding in” components and assemblies. Several decades ago, when Zhiguli, Volga, Moskvich, UAZ and other products of the domestic automobile industry prevailed on the roads of our vast, no one doubted the expediency of this process - all cars were run in for 5000 - 10 000 kilometers.

It was believed that if the driver violates this algorithm, his irresponsibility will lead to an increase in fuel consumption, a decrease in engine power, and even breakdowns of mechanisms. In addition, ignoring the break-in could be fraught with a decrease in the resources of the brake system and transmission. But are these judgments true for new, technically advanced cars? With this question, the AvtoVzglyad portal turned to representatives of the most popular car brands today.

For example, Toyota technicians are of the opinion that cars do not need to be run-in these days. According to them, the machine reaches consumers already completely ready for operation - all the necessary procedures are carried out by the manufacturer at the factories.

The French from Renault also agree with the Japanese. True, the latter strongly recommend that their customers carry out zero maintenance: after the first month of operation, change the oil and, accordingly, the filter.

But KIA thinks differently - the Koreans advise drivers to avoid sudden starts and braking during the first 1500 kilometers. It is undesirable, in their opinion, to lay the speedometer needle over 100 km / h.

The lucky owners of VAZ cars are given somewhat different instructions: until the odometer is 2000 kilometers, do not allow more than 3000 rpm and do not accelerate over 110 km / h. As you can see, all automakers provide customers with different, conflicting information.

So how are things really? To get to the bottom of the truth, the AvtoVzglyad portal was helped by a technical expert from the Russian AutoMotoClub company, an evacuation and technical assistance service on the roads. An independent consultant is convinced that break-in should be (or not be) at the discretion of the driver. There can be no talk of any mandatory procedures in this matter.

If the car owner, for his own peace of mind, wants to prepare the car for “adult” life, then in the first thousand kilometers he should refrain from daring “traffic light” races and rude stops. "Puke" in the right lane, unnerving other road users, is also useless. But it’s still worth looking at the speedometer - the speed in a gentle mode should not exceed 120 km / h.
