In winter, the load on the car is higher, and this affects the transmission resource. Remember how after a long stay in the cold, the gears in the "mechanics" are switched on with some effort? This means that the grease has thickened in the crankcase. That is, any "box" must be heated, and it is faster to do this with the "mechanics". It is enough just to start the engine so that it runs for a couple of minutes at idle.

With "automatic" everything is much more complicated. Its working fluid is fully heated only in motion. Therefore, if you immediately press on the gas, increased wear on the unit is guaranteed. And someday this will definitely affect its resource.

By the way, the resource of "mechanics" is initially much higher. As a rule, it works properly until the car is scrapped, and the automatic transmission will last 200 km, and even then - subject to timely maintenance. And other transmissions do not withstand even a mileage of 000 km.

By the way, after the winter, it would be nice to change the working fluid in the "machine". Indeed, due to high loads, wear products can accumulate in it. There are no such problems with the "handle". So on a long run, it will save the driver more money. And in the event of a breakdown, the repair will not ruin.

Another important plus of the classic "box" is that it can save more fuel than the "automatic". This is especially important in winter, when fuel consumption inevitably rises.

The same effect will be if you rest your wheels against a high curb, and then try to drive into it. After all, slipping is contraindicated for the variator. With "mechanics" soldering such problems will never happen.

It’s also safer to tow a trailer or tow another car on a three-pedal car. It is enough just to carefully move off to save the clutch, and the “mechanics” will withstand the long road quite easily. As for the "machine", then you need to look at the instruction manual. If towing the car is prohibited, then it is better not to risk it, otherwise you can burn the unit. In winter, this can be done much faster, because the roads are poorly cleaned, and any crossing will greatly increase the load on the expensive unit.
