Great Wall Cannon L Review 2021: Snapshot

The 2021 GWM Ute range has a midpoint known as the Cannon L variant. We have also referred to it here as the Great Wall Cannon L because that is how it is probably also known.

The mid-range model costs just $37,990, and that's for an all-wheel drive car with a double cab and an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard. It is powered by a 4-litre turbo diesel engine with 2.0 kW/120 Nm and is designed for a payload of 400 kg depending on brand, as well as a towing force of 1050 kg for trailers without brakes and 750 kg for loads with brakes. Claimed fuel consumption is 3000 l/9.4 km.

The Cannon L model takes it a step up in terms of performance from the lower-end Cannon variant, and to justify the extra $4000, you get some nice and desirable items.

Features in this class include various 18-inch alloy wheels (like the Cannon X above it), an aerosol liner, a sports bar, an easy-to-open tailgate, and a smart retractable cargo ladder, as well as roof rails. .

The front seats are heated but with the same faux leather trim, and the driver's seat is electrically adjustable, leather steering wheel, climate control, air conditioning (single zone), auto-dimming rear view mirror, tinted rear window, and the sound system goes to six speakers (instead of four).

Also standard are LED headlights with LED DRLs and active fog lights, LED taillights, body-color bumpers, side steps, power mirrors, keyless entry, push button start, paddle shifters for automatic transmission, and a 9.0-inch touchscreen. screen. with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and AM/FM radio. At the rear, there are three USB ports and a 12-volt outlet, as well as directional air vents for the rear seats.

And safety is on top - for the first time this can be said about the Great Wall poop. All models have automatic emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian and cyclist detection, traffic sign recognition, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and seven airbags including a front center airbag security. I've only seen this kind of technology in cars like the Mazda BT-50 and Isuzu D-Max, which cost tens of thousands more as a double-cab 4×4 pickup truck than the GWM Ute.
