Polestar begins making Polestar 2 available to journalists and automotive media representatives in Western Europe. Their first impressions are positive, although there is no consensus as to whether the car can compete with the Tesla Model 3 mentioned by Polestar president.

Polestar 2 is better than Tesla, with Android Auto on board, tight

The Polestar 2 is a breakthrough car in the C and D segments, 4,61 meters long, but, importantly, with a shorter wheelbase than the Volkswagen ID.3, ID.4 or Audi Q4 e-tron, which is 273,5 cm (passenger cars). Volkswagen concern on the MEB platform: 276,5 cm).

Therefore, we decided that from this point onwards define Polestar 2 as a model belonging to the upper part of the C segment (compacts)according to the Volvo XC40 (C-SUV) classification.

Tesla Model 3 Rival vs. Probably Not

Analyst Mathias Schmidt drove the car all morning and joked that it was time to suspend Tesla's order (source). According to the manufacturer's declaration WLTP Polestara coating 2 is 470 units, that is up to 402 kilometers in mixed mode... The initial promises were for 500 units, so here we have a 6 percent downward revision.

The battery has Power 75 (78) kWhcar supports charging power up to 150 kW at a fast DC station and charging with 3-phase AC power up to 11 kW. The expected charging time to 80 percent is 40 minutes. This is already the standard in the industry.

For comparison: Volkswagen ID.3 offers up to 420 WLTP units (up to ~ 359 km) from a 58 (62) kWh battery, charged with 100 kW (125 kW in the 77 kWh version). ...

Excellent performance, noticeable weight

All journalists have driven models with the Performance package (source), which raises the car's value by several thousand euros. Behind found a huge advantage in not having to press any Start / Stop buttons... It's like Tesla or Honda e: we get into the car and hit the road.

What Car it underlines thanks 300 kW power (150 kW per axle) and 660 Nm of torque the car is fast. This does not match the performance of the Tesla Model 3, but accelerates to 100 km / h in 4,7 secondsthat in the world of combustion cars is a real feat. Polestar 2 performance is excellentconsidering that we are dealing with a car weighing 2,1 tons, which is more than 200 kilograms heavier than the Tesla Model 3 (source).

This large mass should be felt in tight corners.

The downside of the Tesla Model 3, which has probably been mentioned by all the media, is the lack of its own charging network. Tesle uses 120-150 and even 250 kW blowers. Polestar 2 must rely on infrastructure from outside operators with speeds ranging from 30-40 kW to 350 kW (Ionity, Fastned).

Polestar 2 - summary

We didn't find a single voice of disappointment in Polestar 2and this in itself speaks of the car. It was emphasized that the product, although younger, is much more mature than Tesla Model 3... It is more pleasant to touch, more aesthetically pleasing, offers very good performance and range, although it has some technological disadvantages compared to its American competitor and is smaller in size.

There are no plans to sell the car in Poland yet. But if it were, the price of Polestar 2 in our country will be from PLN 272 thousand..
