Porsche Taycan Turbo S, user experience: great acceleration, but this is energy consumption ... Range of only 235 km!

Automotive journalist Jason Cummis tested the most powerful and fastest electric Porsche: the Taycan Turbo S. He was thrilled with the 2,6 seconds to 97 km / h, but was disappointed with the high power consumption. It was so high that an electrician covered only 235 km on a single charge.

Porsche Taycan Turbo S = the best accelerating civilian Porsche?

The acceleration Porsche Taycan Turbo S component 2,6 seconds up to 97 km / h (0-60 mph) much better than the fastest today Tesla Model 3 Performancewhich, according to the manufacturer, reaches 97 km / h after 3,2 seconds... This is roughly the same as what the Porsche 911 GT2 RS offers, and very close to the current leader. Tesla Model S Performancewhich accelerates to 97 km / h 2,4 seconds.

More importantly, at Porsche, the measurements were taken on all-season tyres, with the battery 90 percent charged, and with a passenger on board (source), i.e. under sub-optimal conditions! It should have looked something like this - the second movie is worth watching with sound because it's... unusual:

Cummissa points out that the Taycan rides well, handles well, brakes reliably, although it cannot steer a car with an accelerator (single-pedal driving). There is only one problem with the car:

Disadvantages of the Porsche Taycan Turbo S? One big thing: energy consumption

The micro-range resulting from the gigantic turned out to be the biggest disappointment. power consumption... During the tests, it was 35,7 kWh / 100 km (356,7 Wh / km). Considering that the net capacity of the Porsche Taycan Turbo S battery is 83,7 kWh, the car, according to the journalist, will only drive 235 km per charge.

The German electrician's only line of defense here is that the reviewer did not spare the car.

It is worth adding that, according to official measurements by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), real range of Porsche Taycan Turbo S is 309 km, which is 14,5 km less than the slightly weaker Porsche Taycan Turbo (without the “S”):

> The actual range of the Porsche Taycan is 323,5 kilometers. Energy consumption: 30,5 kWh / 100 km

For comparison: in Europe, according to the WLTP procedure, the Porsche Taycan Turbo S allegedly reaches 388-412 km. So in real terms in the combined cycle it should be about 340 km. As you can see it can fail...
