“It turned out that the fire extinguisher that I was carrying in the car had expired according to the expiration date specified by the manufacturer,” says Janusz Plotkowski, our reader from Gdansk. - During the road check, the police pointed this out to me. Interestingly, however, if I ran into "zealous" officers, they would not keep my registration certificate. Or maybe even a penalty for such a failure?

“During road control, the police check whether the driver has a fire extinguisher in the car at all, which is required by the regulations,” explains Nadkom. Janusz Staniszewski from the traffic department of the Regional Police Headquarters in Gdansk. “If they discover a shortage, the driver must take into account that the officers will keep his ID until he has a fire extinguisher. The police cannot impose a fine for having an "expired" fire extinguisher or without a valid certificate.

A car fire extinguisher is an item of vehicle equipment that can save the life of a driver or other road users in the event of a fire.

“Therefore, the drivers themselves must monitor the serviceability of the fire extinguisher,” reminds Janusz Staniszewski. We also have to transport her by car to an easily accessible place.
