Prevent theft of your motorcycle

Since the number of motorcycles in circulation is greater than a few years ago, the risk of theft is higher. If the T-Max breaks flight records, no one can escape it! Luckily, there are solutions to help prevent your motorcycle from being stolen and the worst! Duffy gives you some tips on how to keep your beauty safe.

Tip # 1: keep your motorcycle out of sight

It goes without saying that a motorcycle that does not show itself will have a much lower risk of being stolen. Very often, thieves do not dare to steal a two-wheeled vehicle, but go the easy way and with what is at hand. If you have a garage, this is ideal, but the following tips will work for you too! If you are away from your motorcycle for long hours and cannot park it in a garage or secured parking lot, make sure it is near the camera if possible, or in a bright and busy place.

Tip 2: secure the motorcycle to a fixed point.

Your motorcycle on the street without a lock is sure to be stolen. If you have a chain or a U, tie the motorcycle to a fixed point such as a pole, anchored firmly in the ground. The thief will first take the motorcycle without the anti-theft device or that is not attached to the fixed support, and then he will take care of the removal of the anti-theft device.

Tip 3: choose the right lock

As you already understood, you should give preference to anti-theft devices that can be attached to a fixed point. Check with your insurer first. Insurance often requires approval SRA ou MRS + FFM.

TheU-lock can be placed under the original saddle in the housing provided for this purpose. The two most common approved sizes are 270mm or 310mm. Smaller padlocks will not be accepted.

From my side chain can be stored anywhere: under the saddle, in the top suitcase or other luggage. It is the most effective anti-theft remedy as it allows the motorcycle to be very easily attached to a fixed point and does not take up much space.

Note that disc locks they are simply considered a limiting factor and are not sufficient for your insurance. Even if they are sellers because of their space, if you want real protection against theft, you have to think big. Plus, steering lock alone is not enough and can only slow down a very few thieves!

Never carry a padlock in a backpack: it is too dangerous for the spine in the event of a fall. It is advisable to store it under the saddle or in the motorcycle luggage. There are also brackets for attaching to a motorcycle.

Tip # 4: set an alarm

Of course, the best way to prevent theft is to install SRA Approved Alarm... If the motorcycle is moving, the alarm is automatically triggered and may deter thieves. A little free tip: you can stick a sticker on your motorcycle indicating that it has an alarm, even if it doesn't, if the motorcycle is not a thousand miles away from the population, it can scare off thieves.

Tip 5. Install a geolocation device

You can also install the tracker on your motorcycle. This will not prevent her from being stolen, but you will know exactly where she is if she goes missing. Or it might just calm you down. Depending on the model, you can receive real-time information about the movement of the motorcycle.
