E-bike sales in the Netherlands are up sharply

E-bike sales in the Netherlands are up sharply

More and more Europeans consider it the best alternative to public transport in cities. In the Netherlands, the e-bike market has grown by 12% in just a few months.

Independent Dutch bicycle dealers sold 58 e-bikes in May last year, up 000% from the previous year. The COVID crisis has certainly passed, with citizens now opting for a more autonomous mode of transport and determined to take advantage of the good weather rather than being locked in crowded carriages. Today, almost half of the sales revenue comes from electric bicycles. But, according to a study by the GfK Institute, sales of regular bicycles also increased by 38% in May.

However, this increase in demand will face limited supply due to the closure of bicycle factories in recent months. Manufacturers will face supply chain challenges and there are already significant delays in order delivery. Will the sharp rise in May continue over the next few months?
