If you've been buying a used Mazda vehicle, you can check out the vehicles through their certified used car program. Many manufacturers have a Certified Used Car Program (CPO) and each is set up differently. Read on to learn more about the features of the Mazda CPO program.

Mazda certified vehicles with mileage are always under eight years old, have less than 80,000 miles, and carry an extended limited warranty of seven years or 100,000 transmissions.

Inspection

To ensure that all certified used vehicles are safe to drive, Mazda submits all CPO vehicles to a 150-point test that includes the following systems or areas of the vehicle:

  • Under the hood
  • ENGINES
  • Air conditioning and heating
  • brakes
  • Transmission
  • Interior and exterior

Any parts that do not meet the standards of Mazda Automotive Technicians are replaced or repaired until the vehicle becomes part of the CPO program.

Warranty

Mazda CPO vehicles come with a Powertrain Limited Warranty that covers repair or replacement of major engine, drive system and transmission components for seven years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Does not require a franchise to attend the service.

The warranty also includes certain benefits such as:

  • Full vehicle history report including service book.

  • A XNUMX-hour roadside assistance program that offers emergency assistance services.

For details on specific refund amounts, contact an Authorized Mazda Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle Dealer.

Prices

Purchasing a Mazda certified used car instead of a used car can affect the price at most dealerships. Net profit will typically be about 14% higher than a typical "used" car.

For example, at the time of this writing in April 2016, a used Kelly Blue Book 2012 Mazda MX-5 Miata was valued at $14,565; the same car in the Mazda CPO program costs about $16,583.

Compare Mazda to other certified used car programs

Whether or not you choose to use a CPO vehicle, it is always wise to have any used vehicle inspected by an independent certified mechanic before purchasing it. A certified used car does not mean that the car is in perfect condition, and any used car can have serious problems that are not visible to the untrained eye. If you're in the market to buy a used car, schedule a pre-purchase inspection for complete peace of mind.
