Battery consumption in Tesla: 6% after 100 thousand kilometers, 8% after 200 thousand kilometers

On the Tesla Motors Club forum, around 350 Tesla S and X owners are reporting declining battery capacity due to the mileage and age of their vehicles. It shows that after 100 km, Tesla vehicles retain an average of 94 percent, and after 200 km, 92 percent of their original battery capacity.

The data is collected by users of the Tesla forum, so you can expect that we are dealing with people who care about the good condition of their cars and the longest possible battery life. However, the figures below may or may not be representative of a particular vehicle - these are averages.

The data compiled in the table shows that the average range for a full Tesla Model S / X battery is:

  • after 100 thousand kilometers - 94 percent of the original cost,
  • after 200 thousand kilometers - 92 percent of the original cost,
  • after 300 thousand kilometers it should be about 90 percent of the original value.

Or if at first the car drove 400 km on one charge, then for 300 thousand km it should travel 360 km. on one charge.

The graph also shows the decrease in the range (battery capacity) depending on the age of the vehicle (battery):

  • after 1 year of use, the vehicle is able to cover 96 percent of the original distance without recharging,
  • after 2 years - 95 percent of the original distance,
  • after 5 years of use - 94 percent of the original distance.

In other words: Tesla, which is several years old, even with 300 miles of range, should offer a better range than most competitors. Therefore, if we have already decided to buy an electric car, it is worth comparing a new car with a used Tesla from a reliable source for several years. It may turn out that the car of the American manufacturer will offer the best price / quality ratio.
