Sale at the car dealership

About 20 motorists have already done this.

Over $6 million worth of luxury cars were sold in the first week of this year's Australian International Motor Show.

The most expensive model sold so far is the $596,000 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder including $100,000 options.

The "crazy green" supercar was bought on the first day of the show by a doctor with a passion for cars. He was already a Lamborghini customer.

Yesterday, Lamborghini was in talks to sell another model: the Gallardo Supperleggera, priced at $497,000.

Another car enthusiast liked the galloping horse and paid $550,000 for a red Ferrari 430 Spyder.

The new owner, a Sydney businessman, won't have to wait; and get his new car at the end of the show.

At the Bentley booth, the four new owners made the most of their trip to the showroom, with two Continental GTCs and two GT Speeds sold in a week.

Bentley Sydney general manager Bevin Clayton said all four new owners were professional businessmen and there were "22 more expressions of strong interest".

The all-new Maserati GranTurismo was also a hit at the show, with seven models ordered.

Australia has been given 40 GranTurismos this year, each worth $292,800. But it's going to have to wait as there were 130 orders taken from Australia and New Zealand before the show started.

And Bufori, partly owned by Australia, is celebrating its return to the Australian market, and a number of new owners have decided that the Malaysian car was made just for them.

Bufori spokesman Cameron Pollard did not disclose the exact number of cars sold, but said they were very pleased with the sales. He said they sold more than one model.

Only 20 Buforis will be available in Australia this year.

But the dealership's first sale took place before the doors even opened. Mercedes-Benz sold one of two CL65s bound for Australia this year for $474,000 the night before the opening.
