Extended test: Honda CR-V 1.6i DTEC 4WD Elegance

The new generation of crossovers is digital gauges, advanced infotainment systems, front-wheel drive only, an emphasis on form (albeit at the expense of usability) and well-being (including ride quality) that is as close as possible to classic caravans.

Moderate consumption for all-wheel drive

CR-V is not like that and does not want to be. He's already an old acquaintance, but in recent years he has certainly experienced rejuvenation, which should keep him on par with the competition. This is the main engine 1,6 liter turbodiesel, which replaced the old 2,2 liter. Despite the smaller volume, it has more power, but it is more refined, quieter and, of course, more environmentally friendly and wallet-safe. This is even more important these days. Just look at our consumption: for a car of this size and with all-wheel drive, the result is very good!

Here, the CR-V is completely on par with the competition, but a little louder. The same could be said about the transmission: well-calculated, with precise movements, but too stiff, too off-road and not soft enough (for those who want to drive "like in a normal car"). However, those who ever take a turn off the pavement will appreciate the feeling of power and reliability that it gives - the feeling that you can drive this CR-V not only on rubble, but also on the ground, but it will not complain and refuse .

The new crossovers offer more fun and useful technology.

Well, in the end, we would like more modern infotainment technology - this is the area where the CR-V still deviates the most from modern standards. As many as three completely different screens on the dashboard spoil the impression in terms of design and graphics. The largest of them is touch-sensitive, but its graphics are quite rough and the design of the selectors is not very intuitive. The CR-V will need to get an integrated sophisticated infotainment system in the next generation.

But then again: some don't mind. These are customers who demand reliability, economy and durability from a car. And in the flow of crossovers on the market by these criteria, the CR-V takes a very high place. Tall enough that someone who appreciates this in the car will easily forgive him for all the other more or less noticeable mistakes.
