Extended Test: Mazda CX-5 CD150 AWD // Discreet?

The fact that the car is inconspicuous when we think of it is not as bad as one might think. Well, it's even nicer to remember it because of the heap of positive excesses, because of the enthusiasm behind the wheel that it evokes, because of the sound of the engine, because of ...

But invisibility is better than mistaken memorization of the machine. After that bothered him so much that they even discouraged him from buying. This is why such a CX-5 is well invisible, but it has some features that push one side or the other out of this invisibility.

At the bottom are very classic analog gauges with a screen in between that could give more information. For those who switch to the CX-5 from a generation of an older comparable car, there will be no problem - it will still be a step forward. However, if you came to it from one of those who already offer digital counters today (if you like them at all, of course), that would be a mistake. The same goes for the infotainment system: otherwise it is a good example of the previous generation. The thing is well-researched enough to be intuitive and easy enough to use (with a rotary knob and touch screen), but it lacks modern smartphone connectivity features (Apple CarPlay and AndroidAuto), prettier graphics, and a bit more intuitiveness. However, the built-in navigation is good.

What have we missed? Maybe just an automatic transmission. And it's not like there's anything wrong with the standard manual: short lever, fast and precise movements, good coordination with the clutch operation with a pleasantly soft movement. If you're used to a manual transmission, you'll love this. And since the 150-horsepower diesel is also quite sleek and lively, the ride is a pleasure on all types of roads. Four-wheel drive adds some reliability in poor conditions and at the same time does not reduce consumption much: nine thousand kilometers that we covered in three months (that is, we drove about three times more than the average driver), the average consumption stopped. at 7,8 liters per 100 km. It may seem like a lot, but it's important to know that she's driven many miles on motorways - even abroad, where speeds can be much faster than here. More authoritative for everyday use will be data from the circle of norms - there the consumption stopped at only 5,4 liters!

And since the CX-5 not only rides well, but also sits well enough in it and tends to be generous enough for the average family, and travel-friendly at the same time, we found it hard to say goodbye to it.
