Extended test - Moto Guzzi V 85 TT // New wind, good wind

What all the riders had in common was that they experienced a pleasant surprise after the first contact with him. Moto Guzzi, which is otherwise part of the Piaggio group's global empire, is actually writing a new story with this bike. It was designed for pleasure, for a relaxing wandering through the city and mountain passes. When I first rode it in Sardinia, we also drove very fast on winding roads. Even in an extended test, I can only confirm my first conclusion that the frame, suspension, brakes and diesel engine are very carefully assembled into a coherent whole, which is fun and exciting. I can't give up on a unique look.

The Italians showed here why their design schools are so highly regarded in the industry, the V85TT is simply a beautiful bike that flirts with retro styling in an interesting way. The dual front light, rear light reminiscent of a military fighter exhaust system, and a beautifully welded tubular frame alongside off-road tires and studded wheels are a real hit if you're into classic touring enduro bikes. Comfort for the driver and passenger is well balanced, despite the moderate dimensions and weight, which does not exceed 229 kilograms with a full tank. Considering the fuel consumption in the test, which averaged 5,5 liters per 100 kilometers, we can say that it matches the character of the motorcycle, which does not really cause a price increase, since the base model costs 11.490 euros.

On one tank, he travels almost 400 kilometers with moderate driving dynamics. It also has so many adventurous people that they can get through the gravel roads without problems, with the help of a good ABS system when grabbing the front wheel, and the rear wheel will not go to idle without control thanks to the electronic traction control. control. However, its habitat is where it will blend beautifully with otherness, country roads, curves, mountain passes – this is a polygon where the rider will enjoy a good ride, reliable traction and comfort behind a wide enduro handlebar.

Guzzi's motto "Tutto Terreno" was one of the most notable and admired novelties of the 2019 season. I wouldn't say it was sent to the market with the intention of shuffling the cards in the classroom. The fact that he does not put himself forward in anything (except design) is actually a genius move of his godparents. Be that as it may, he will find his audience, but he will not deal with competitors and comparative tests. The wolf doesn't care what the sheep think. The V85 TT is a pleasant bike that should enchant you, if not with the pleasant twin-cylinder throb, with its simplicity, logic, and blend of old and new. I was fascinated by his cycling, but I wish fifth and sixth gears were a bit longer.

In the off-road motorsport that the V85 TT is flirting with, the conventional wisdom is that such a field-ready bike stands tall. But that's not entirely true for the new Guzzi, as the seat is just 83 centimeters off the ground, which means shorter drivers can handle it too. The wide steering wheel with protective plastic coating on the ends ensures that the driver can handle it, the weight ratio is balanced, and the weight of 229 kilograms is almost unnoticeable when driving. Getting behind the wheel is easy, which, of course, will come in handy both on long trips and when driving off-road.

It impresses with a TFT display in a blue combination that emphasizes the nobility of the bike and proves that the V85 is a modern bike despite being inspired by the 80s. Hey, you might also consider navigation to connect to the motorcycle screen via smartphone. In the Guzzi style, the unit is a good, old and reliable four-stroke, two-cylinder, transverse-cylinder V-twin engine, made in the spirit of modernity, also with three working programs. The driver can adjust and change them by pressing the left and right sides of the steering wheel.

The bike is relaxed, controllable and quite responsive both on the ground and on the road at low revs and low speeds. When the throttle lever is tightened, it squeezes 80 horses out of its mechanical lungs, it also emits a specific sound from a single exhaust, and the Brembo brakes do a great job as well. With the traditional yet proven technique of modern accessories, somewhat sturdy shapes and charisma, it will impress especially those who are passionate about the golden years of motorcycling with a touch of nostalgia.
