Extended test: Piaggio Medley S 150 I-get (2020) // Offers more than you might expect at first glance
The relatively rich reading of this year's novelties has taken well the members of our magazine's motorcycle department, so we are introducing the practical "long distance runner" only now, although he has been with us since the end of spring. This time, to get a taste, I'll write a little more about what this year's update brought Medley, and the sequels to this extended test will, as usual, follow the experience of all our testers.
Piaggio Medley, if he is entered the market in 2016, when as a premium offer of Piaggie "tall wheels" in volumes from 125 to 150 cubic centimeters. If he was something of an "outsider" as a debutant in the Piaggie scooter family, it is more than clear today that the new generation is heavily inspired by his older brother, the Beverly. This is primarily evident in its side silhouette, large wheels and rear, but I still think that more important than the looks is the fact that the Medley also follows its premium sibling into realms invisible to the naked eye. So, to the technique and quality details.
Medley has undergone both a technical refurbishment and a thorough design. In addition to some brand-specific details (tie, upright seating position, integrated turn signals ...), we also noticed a brand new central digital data display. V The S version also combines this with phone connectivity and virtually all the key data you need is available as standard.... Among the important improvements, I also include the record under-seat storage space, which can safely accommodate up to two integrated helmets.
The test Medley is powered by a 155cc I-Get engine, but this time it is the latest modification. The engine is basically a nearly identical but smaller 125cc single-cylinder engine. Cm.... The economical machine is now not only liquid-cooled, but also includes a whole host of completely new components. New and more fluid are the cylinder head (valves), new are the camshaft, piston, injectors, exhaust system and air chamber. Compared to its predecessor, power has increased by 10 percent, and as a result, Medley is the strongest in the group of its direct competitors with 16,5 "horses".
When it comes to cycling, the new Medley retains the same characteristics as its predecessor. So it's lightweight, controllable and agile, but there is still little communication with the driver. Absolutely, however, the engine has proven itself well when driving. His liveliness is the record for my feelings and memories in this class, but more than the maximum speed (120 km / h), I was impressed by his sincerity and responsiveness.... I won't exaggerate if I write that the engine feels more like a 250 class than a 125 cc.

Piaggio once again proved that the dictation of standards is in his sphere. If your routes are tied primarily to the city and its environs, then we see no reason why you should choose the more expensive and larger Beverly. A great engine plays an important role in this, so if you are not limited by a driver's license, choose the 155 cubic meter model.
