This is strictly prohibited and may result in a heavy fine. At the same time, in the event of a traffic jam in the tunnel, it is necessary to observe the minimum distance between vehicles. If you are driving a vehicle with a maximum authorized mass of up to 3,5 tonnes or a bus, you must keep a distance of at least 50 m from the vehicle in front. However, in case of crowds, a distance of at least 5 meters between vehicles must be maintained. You should be aware that these rules apply in tunnels longer than 500 m outside built-up areas.

Safe distance in the tunnel and speed - what can I get a ticket for?

In case of non-compliance with the distance rules between vehicles in the tunnel, you can get a fine of 10 euros. In addition, the police officer may refer to the provision for endangering traffic. Then the fine can be even more than 50 euros. On the other hand, turning, reversing and stopping a vehicle in a tunnel incurs a fine of 20 euros and up to 5 demerit points.

Failure to follow the rules in the tunnel can lead to a fine and a dangerous situation on the road. For this reason, it is worth knowing the above rules of movement in such circumstances.
