A driver's license for a tractor - how to get it, what rights does it give and how much does it cost?

The tractor is an indispensable part of the farm. It is useful for every culture and definitely makes it easier. The tractor license is marked with the letter T. Registration for the course and exam is similar to category B. More than 50% of students pass the exam. 

Tractor driver's license - how to get?

A category T driver's license entitles you to travel:

• agricultural tractor or multi-speed machine;
• combinations of vehicles consisting of an agricultural tractor with trailers or a multi-wheeled vehicle with trailers;
• vehicles of category AM - a moped and a light quad bike (ATV).

The tractor driving course includes 30 hours of theory and 20 hours of practical training. The practical part of the training takes place both in urban traffic and on a maneuverable platform.

If you have a category B driver's license, you can already drive a tractor on the roads. The total weight of the car does not matter here. It is worth noting that you can tow light trailers, the maximum permissible weight of which does not exceed 750 kilograms. Obtaining a tractor license allows you to tow much larger trailers.

How much will you have to spend on a tractor license? The cost of a driving school course varies from 1200 to 170 euros. For one hour of practical training, the trainee will pay from 70 to 9 euros. The cost of the state practical exam is 17 euros, the theoretical exam is 3 euros. 

Tractor driver's license - for how many years?

You can take the State Tractor Driving Test when you turn 16. You can start training 3 months before reaching the required age. In the case of minors, the written consent of the legal guardian will be required.

How is the state exam T?

The exam for this category is held in the regional traffic center. First, you must pass a theory exam. The test consists of 32 questions and you have 25 minutes to answer. A positive result will give you the opportunity to proceed to the practical part. The practical exam takes place on the maneuvering platform. You have to complete four tasks assigned by the examiner. To complete them, you will use a tractor and trailer. At the end, the examiner will inform you of the result. You must receive your driver's license in 9 business days.

Should a farmer have a tractor driving license?

If your future is in agriculture, you may need a tractor license. For many agricultural jobs, category B may not be enough. Transporting trailers filled with hay or fruit requires large, heavy trailers to be attached to the tractor. The movement of such a set on public roads is already a category T.
