Different black tea: 3 non-standard offers for a winter evening

Black tea can be a great base for warming cocktails, perfect for winter evenings. Discover 3 unique recipes from 3 different parts of the world.

Black tea is the easiest of all teas to make. The brewing process almost always comes down to three steps, whether you prefer loose tea or tea bags: we simply boil water to the desired temperature, pour it over the leaves, and after a few minutes remove the bag or teapot. However, an infusion made this way can be a great base for slightly more complex recipes. When to try them out, if not now, when winter begins to show what it is capable of.

3 warming tea options

To Hong Kong

The drink outwardly resembles the British one popular on the islands, i.е. tea with milk. However, looking closely at it, we will notice that it is covered with a delicate foam, and the tea itself is much fatter and sweeter than the British prototype. This is due to the fact that condensed milk is usually used for its preparation. We also don't pour it directly into the cup. Instead, first brew black tea in a kettle (the best choice is Ceylon tea, two teaspoons of dried fruits per liter of water), and when the water boils, add condensed milk (about 400 g) to the infusion and bring to a boil. the drink will boil again. Then we filter the whole thing through a sieve (in the original, a special filter was used for this, resembling a stocking, so honkonka is sometimes also called stocking tea) and you're done.

Sweet Adeline

Frosty winter afternoons are most often made more pleasant by tea with orange and cloves. Sweet Adeline is a drink for everyone who is already bored with this recipe. It is also based on black tea, but instead of oranges, freshly squeezed pomegranate juice and a cinnamon stick are added. Any black tea is suitable here, it is worth trying aromatic ones (for example, Lipton Tropical Fruit). But how to squeeze pomegranate juice? No special tools are required here - all you need is a small foil bag in which you put the seeds, then crush them and pour the juice through the cut corner, the taste of which is far superior to all pomegranate drinks available in stores. . If you want a tea with electricity, you can also add rum to your brew.

Hot Toddy

It's hard to imagine a better antidote for a cold. Hot Toddy will warm you up instantly! In this case, however, not only due to hot tea, but also due to whiskey, which is usually added to a cocktail (rum or cognac are also possible). The cooking process is simple: put spices (a few cloves, a cinnamon stick, anise) and a tablespoon of honey (dark, for example, buckwheat) into a tall glass, and then pour warm (but not hot!) Black tea. . Then gently mix everything and add the squeezed juice of half a lemon and a small portion of whiskey (approx. 30 g). The best choice would be Irish - the recipe comes from this country.

The next time you freeze at the bus stop, you already know what to do. Black tea is one thing, and while waiting for the water to boil, it’s worth reaching for a few more additions to make the desired moment with a warm infusion even more pleasant.
