Instructions for adjusting valves on a VAZ 2107

I think that it is not worthwhile to once again talk about the need to adjust the valves with a certain period. Of course, not every owner of a VAZ 2107 is ready to do it on their own, but in fact there are no particular difficulties in this procedure. Especially on the site zarulemvaz.ru I post my manual, so to speak, made on personal experience and the example of my own car.

Of course, it will first be necessary to perform such procedures as:

List of required tools

  1. Open-end wrenches 13 and 17 mm
  2. Probe 0,15 mm thick. It is advisable to use for this work exactly the special “classic” designed for the VAZ, that is, wide, so that it completely goes between the cams and rockers.

So, first of all, we expose the gas distribution mechanism according to the marks. We look so that the long mark on the front cover housing coincides with the mark on the crankshaft pulley.

Now we look at the camshaft gear. The mark on it should also be aligned with the lip on the camshaft housing. This is clearly shown in the photo below:

When the timing is set according to the marks, at this moment you can start adjusting the 6th and 8th valves. Count down from the left side. For greater clarity, I will show everything in the photo.

Now you need to insert the dipstick so that it fits strictly between the rocker (valve lever) and the cam of the VAZ 2107 camshaft. It is important that the dipstick comes in with slight pinching.

If it enters too easily, or does not fit at all, then this valve should be adjusted. To do this, loosen the lock nut with a 17 wrench, and using a 13 mm wrench, turn the adjusting bolt in the direction you need (depending on what you need to do: smaller or larger gap).

When we have finished off the optimal clearance, we tighten the lock nut to the limit. BUT keep in mind that during tightening the gap may become smaller, that is, the valve will be clamped. If this happened, then the procedure should be repeated again until the desired value is reached.

  • At TDC, the 6th and 8th valves are regulated, as already mentioned above
  • 180 ° rotation of the crankshaft - 4 and 7 cells.
  • 360° - 1st and 3rd valve
  • 570 - last 2 and 5 valve

Look, we are talking about the crankshaft. That is, during the entire procedure, it will need to be turned almost in two turns. But the camshaft will turn only once, I think there is no need to explain this in detail.

In order not to count the degrees and not to look closely at the crankshaft pulley, you can do differently. Open the distributor cover and look at the speed on the slider. 90 degrees of rotation of the slider will correspond to 180 degrees of the crankshaft. That is, at 1/4 turn of the slider, we adjust two valves, based on the data presented above.
