Revolt RV400: Indian electric motorcycle revealed

The first Revolt electric motorcycle, classified in the 125 category, was unveiled on Tuesday June 18th. Announcing a range of up to 156 kilometers on a single charge, it should be offered at a particularly aggressive price tag.

As Indian authorities prepare to initiate a massive conversion of the country's two-wheeled fleet to electric vehicles, Indian startup Revolt unveiled its very first electric motorcycle on June 18.

Dubbed the RV400 and falling within the 125cc equivalent category, it is aimed primarily at urban and suburban areas with a top speed of 85 km / h and power that should range from 6 to 10 kW. Three driving modes are available when in use: Eco, City and Sport.

Removable battery

On the battery side, the Revolt RV400 has a removable block. If the characteristics are not indicated, the manufacturer reports a range of 156 kilometers. Certified by ARAI, Indian Automotive Research Association, for use in "Eco" mode. In City mode it is announced between 80 and 90 km, and in Sport mode it is announced between 50 and 60 km.

Similar to what Gogoro did in Taiwan, Revolt is working to build a national battery exchange network. Principle: offer users to exchange a dead battery for a full one through a subscription system.

Apart from this system, users will also be able to charge the battery using a standard outlet. The manufacturer contacts the 15 A charger within 4 hours to fully charge.

Connected motorcycle

Revolt RV4 supports 400G eSIM and Bluetooth technology, so it can be connected to a mobile app. This allows the user to start the car remotely, locate the nearest battery replacement device, run diagnostic operations, locate the vehicle, and track all trips made.

For those who regret the lack of engine noise, the bike is equipped with four exhaust sounds that the user can activate at will. More sounds can be downloaded on the Internet, the manufacturer promises.

Revolt is also announcing a voice control system without going into details about the technology used or how it works.

120.000 copies per year

The Revolt RV400 will be manufactured at a plant in Haryana, a state in northern India. The production capacity will be 120.000 units per year.

The Revolt electric motorcycle is expected to launch in July at a particularly aggressive price, with some citing a price of less than Rs 100.000 or around € 1300. In the meantime, pre-orders are already open on the manufacturer's website for a down payment of 1000 rupees, or about 13 euros.
