Rinspeed Ethos. Autonomous driving and drone on board

Rinspeed Ethos. Autonomous driving and drone on board This is the first Rinspeed car not to debut in Geneva. The premiere took place in Las Vegas at the consumer electronics show CES 2016. A very telling fact for at least two reasons.

Autonomous driving and drone on boardThe showroom in Geneva is one of the most famous, but for Rinspeed, based in Zumikon near Zurich, the show in Las Vegas is an entry into the “big world”. The choice of event is even more important. CES is a melting pot of modern technologies that streamline almost all of our reality. The machine no longer uses them - it refuses them.

Ethos plays on the popular note of autonomous driving. Technically, this is a heavily tuned BMW i8. It's nothing to Rinspeed. Many of his creations have a "skeleton" in the form of a production car. I write "creations" because the boss of the company Frank Rinderknecht (born 1955) shows a wide interest. It's not just about the car, it's also about relationships with people and the environment. From here come the machines that take on bold experiments and approach the world of science and art.

Ethos is not the first Rinspeed in which "to be" is more than "to have". She almost cares about the traveling mom, although what mother would put her child's nightclub on her list of favorite destinations? Ethos remembers the most visited places. Knowing the tastes and habits of the owner, he himself makes a choice and offers noteworthy moments. This solves the general problem of information overload, not the scarcity that is prevalent today. Navigation aims to avoid errors. It shows realistic XNUMXD images of buildings, trees, bus stops and other characteristic elements of the environment.

When Etos rides alone, the driver has more room to read a book or magazine. There is a shelf in front of the passenger that is perfect for reading! Two curved Ultra HD monitors provide an endless source of knowledge and entertainment.

Orientation in the environment and cooperation with it is a prerequisite for the proper operation of an autonomous vehicle. The information received by the car is also useful to the driver. Etos monitors the environment in a 360-degree radius, completely eliminating "blind spots". In tight spaces, it gives the driver a view of the front wheels to avoid unwanted contact with, for example, a high curb. It constantly searches the terrain for obstacles, cars, bystanders, etc. The E-Horizon system warns of roadworks, accidents, improper driving, and helps you pass without stopping in the rhythm of changing lights at intersections.

Rinspeed also monitors the driver. By observing his vision, he "sees" what the driver saw, and with the help of appropriate messages draws his attention to important but unnoticed elements. The system even takes care of a good range of mobile devices and uninterrupted data transfer.

The Harman LIVS platform is responsible for most of the communication functions. In turn, personal work is provided by the Cortana driver from Microsoft, with which you can communicate with your voice. He will remind you of his wife's birthday and find a jeweler. A parking drone in the back of a car will collect roses from a flower shop, and then film and broadcast your joyful return home to all interested parties.
