In the ventilation systems of modern cars, especially those equipped with air conditioning, a special air filter is installed, called a cabin filter or a dust filter.

The cabin air filter must be changed at least once a year. A dirty filter can cause allergic reactions. "src="https://d.motofakty.pl/art/45/kq/s1jp7ncwg0okgsgwgs80w/4301990a4f5e2-d.310.jpg" align="right">

This filter has the shape of a rectangular parallelepiped and is placed in a special chamber near the pit. The filter element can be made of special filter paper or coal.

A characteristic feature of this filter is the very large active surface required for reliable operation over a long period of time. The main task of the filter is to clean the relatively large amount of air injected into the car interior. The filter retains most of the pollen, fungal spores, dust, smoke, asphalt particles, rubber particles from abrasive tires, quartz and other pollutants floating in the air that accumulate above the road. To be precise, the paper filter already catches very small particles with a diameter of more than 0,6 microns. The carbon cartridge filter is even more efficient. In addition to particles, it also traps harmful exhaust gas components and unpleasant odors.

An efficient filter helps to reduce the risk of allergic reactions in the mucous membranes of the nose and eyes, colds or irritation of the respiratory system, diseases that are increasingly affecting people who spend a lot of time behind the wheel. This is a kind of medicine for drivers suffering from inhalation allergies.

When filtering a large amount of polluted air, the filter becomes progressively clogged, absorbing more and more pollutants into the spaces between the pores of the nonwoven fabric. Free filtering spaces allow less and less air to pass through and become completely clogged over time.

In principle, it is impossible to determine the time when the filter will be completely clogged. The service life depends on the amount of pollutants in the air. It should be emphasized that it is impossible to clean the filter effectively. Therefore, the cabin filter should be replaced every 15-80 km at a scheduled inspection or at least once a year. Filter prices are relatively high and range from PLN XNUMX.
