Mirrors of universal type

Large mirrors from Niva

Some drivers prefer to take a radical approach to improving the visibility of mirrors. And they install vertical rear-view mirrors on their “six” (they are also called “burdocks”). Now native "burdocks" for the "six" are not so easy to find on sale, although just three years ago the shelves were littered with them. But the drivers found a way out: they began to install large mirrors from the Niva (VAZ 2106) on the VAZ 2121. The review after installing such mirrors really improves. But to call such a decision beautiful, alas, it does not work: the mirrors from the Niva on the VAZ 2106 look too bulky.

You can attach such "burdocks" to the "six" using a standard triangle. Only in this case you will have to take two brackets from the VAZ 2106 and Niva mirrors and make new fasteners for a large mirror from them.

Here we should also mention the new mirrors. As you know, relatively recently the Niva car was updated. This also applies to rear-view mirrors. And if the motorist has a choice, then it is better to install mirrors from the new Niva on the "six".

Despite their small size, they have a good overview. With fastening, too, there will be no big problems: it's still the same standard triangle, in which you have to drill one extra hole.

To disassemble the regular mirror of the "six", no special skills are required, and from the tools you only need a thin screwdriver with a flat sting.

  1. The mirror is removed from the hinge. This is done manually. The mirror must be taken by the frame and pulled with force in a direction strictly perpendicular to the car body. The hinge will disengage and the mirror will be released.

Some drivers, trying to give the mirrors of their "six" a more presentable appearance, chrome their bodies. The easiest option to get a chrome mirror housing is to go out and buy one.   4. Heated vinyl stretches well. Carefully stretched and held at the corners, the film is applied to the mirror body. During this procedure, it is necessary to ensure that as few air bubbles as possible remain under the film, and no wrinkles occur.

  5. Since the appearance of bubbles can not always be avoided, the surface of the film must be carefully smoothed with a roller. If the air bubble cannot be "expelled" from under the film with a roller, it must be reheated with a hairdryer. This will make the bubbles move.
  6. After complete smoothing, the film sticking out along the edges of the case is wrapped around its edges, under the plastic edging. The rolled edges are warmed up again and smoothed with a roller, which ensures the most dense bonding of the edges of the film and the case.
  7. Now you need to let the body cool for an hour. And you can install the mirror elements in place.

Before starting work, make sure that the room is well ventilated and there are no open sources of fire nearby. Also, personal protective equipment should not be neglected. You need goggles, a respirator and gloves. In addition, the following things will be needed:

First, the mirror must be removed from the car. No special tools are required for this. Then the mirror is disassembled according to the instructions given above.

  1. The case from which the mirror element is removed is carefully cleaned with fine sandpaper. This is necessary for matting the surface.

  2. After stripping, the body is treated with a degreasing compound. Now you need to wait for the surface to dry completely. It takes from 20 minutes to half an hour (you can use a building hair dryer to speed up this process).
  3. After the composition has dried, the mirror body is coated with a primer.
  4. When the primer dries, a thin layer of automotive varnish is applied to it.
  5. The dry lacquered surface is polished with napkins. This stage should be taken seriously, since the quality of the final coating depends on it. In no case should you touch the polished surface with your hands. Even a small fingerprint left on it will be visible after applying the paint.
  6. Now the mirror body is painted with chrome. It is best to do this with a spray gun, in several steps, so that there are at least two layers, and even better - three.
  7. It may take a day for the paint to dry completely (it all depends on the brand of paint, the time for complete drying must be indicated on the can).

  8. When the paint dries, the surface is varnished again and carefully polished.

Cabin mirrors VAZ 2106

The purpose of the interior mirror on the "six" is obvious: with its help, the driver can see those sections of the road that are not in the field of view of the exterior rear-view mirrors. Standard interior mirror
