- aluminum - light, long service life;
- thin-walled pipes - light weight, reliable design;
- stainless steel - does not give in to corrosion, weighs a lot, but it is convenient to handle.
Tools:
- electric drill;
- welding machine;
- grinder with metal discs;
- sandpaper;
- paint for metal surfaces;
- set of screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches.
Sequencing:
- First, cut the metal for the bottom of the platform (profile 40x20x1,5 mm), weld the frame with stiffeners.
- Then proceed to the upper enclosing perimeter (pipe 20x20x1,5 mm).
- Between them, install and weld or bolt the jumpers that you cut into 9 or 13 cm.
- Weld supports for fastening to the bottom (buy ready-made fasteners) and a 4 mm chain-link mesh with 50x50 mm cells.
- To improve resistance to oncoming air, round the front pieces or make the front narrower than the rear.
- Clean the places of welding of the "expeditioner" on the UAZ Hunter with sandpaper, paint.

A properly designed rigid accessory does not deform under the weight of the load, and the sides hold the transported things even with large rolls of the all-terrain vehicle.

Sequencing:
- Remove the top interior trim. Remove the side handles and sun visors.
- Mark the attachment points: the front one is on the drain, the side ones are on the roof slopes.
- Drill the channels with a crown of the desired diameter.
- Treat the holes with an anti-rust compound.
- Screw the rack with bolts that should fit into the threaded bushings of the load device supports. Place large washers on the passenger side to reduce stress on the roof panel.
- Treat the joints with sealant.
Next, return the lining and all the removed elements to their place. Follow the same procedure for the UAZ-469.
Permissible norms for the transport of goods on UAZ trunks
The carrying capacity of UAZs is determined as follows: the curb weight is deducted from the permissible total weight of the car. It turns out: 3050 kg - 1975 kg = 1075 kg. But this does not mean that the entire ton of cargo can be transported on the roof.
Excess weight will shift the center of gravity back and up, and then the car will tip over on the turn. Manufacturers of ready-made roof racks recommend transporting 50-75 kg in the upper cargo basket. You can load 150-200 kg on home-made power "expeditioners". At the same time, make sure that the weight is evenly distributed.
