The sharp decline in the Ukrainian automotive market in 2014-2017 also affected the sales of cars from China, especially after the legislative introduction of Euro 5 environmental standards in 2016. Despite the ensuing market revival, such Chinese brands as Lifan, BYD and FAW finally left Ukraine. Now officially in our country you can buy cars from four manufacturers from China - Chery, Geely, JAC and Great Wall.

Even 5…7 years ago Geely sold two thirds of all Chinese cars on the Ukrainian market. Now the company has lost ground. In 2019, Ukraine did not wait for new products from Geely, including the updated Belarusian-assembled Atlas crossover, which is already on sale in Russia and Belarus. This compact front-wheel drive crossover attracts primarily with its bright, stylish appearance and a fairly affordable price in its class. The new Tiggo 2 in the basic configuration can be purchased in Ukraine at a price of $10.

The class B 5-door hatchback is equipped with a 106-liter naturally aspirated power unit with a capacity of 5 hp, running on gasoline. Two transmission options are available - 4-speed manual or XNUMX-speed automatic in the Luxury package.

The car is designed for a calm, measured ride. The speed characteristics are quite modest - up to 100 km / h the car can accelerate in 12 and a half seconds, and the maximum speed that Tiggo 2 can develop is 170 km / h. The optimal comfortable speed on the highway is 110 ... 130 km / h. Fuel consumption -7,4 liters in mixed mode.

Ground clearance of 180 mm does not make Tiggo 2 a full-fledged SUV, however, it allows you to go out into nature and move around moderately rough terrain. Pretty soft suspension - energy-intensive MacPherson strut with anti-roll bar at the front and a semi-independent torsion bar at the rear - make the trip very comfortable at any speed.

Handling is at a high level, the car almost does not heel in corners, overtaking on the highway is not a problem. But Tiggo 2 is especially good in the city. Thanks to the small turning radius and good maneuverability, parking and moving along narrow city streets can be done without any problems.

The salon is quite spacious, so Tiggo 2 can be used as a family car. The interior is upholstered in eco-leather in black and orange. For fixing child car seats, there are ISOFIX anchorages. Doors close easily and quietly.

The sub-brand of the “Great Wall” Haval was created specifically for the production of crossovers and SUVs. In this category, the brand has been holding the leading position in China for several years in a row, in addition, its products are supplied to three dozen countries around the world. In 2018, Haval officially entered Ukraine and currently has dealerships in 12 Ukrainian cities.

The new version of the Haval H6 family front-wheel drive crossover is able to break the stereotypes that people have about Chinese products in general and cars in particular. The stylish design does not contain borrowings and pretentiousness typical for China. It is felt that European designers have thoroughly worked on it.

The updated model received new turbocharged gasoline engines and a dual variable valve timing system. The one and a half liter unit develops power up to 165 hp. and allows you to accelerate to 180 km / h, and the two-liter has a maximum of 190 hp. and a speed limit of 190 km/h. The gearbox in all variants is a 7-speed automatic. MacPherson strut front, independent double wishbone rear.

The price of the Haval H6 is comparable to the Mitsubishi Outlander and Nissan X-Trail. The new H6 in the cheapest Fashionable variant can be bought in Ukraine for $24. The class D family sedan Emgrand 7 after the third restyling appeared on the Ukrainian market in mid-2018, and in 2019 it remained the only model that Geely Automobile sold in our country. Moreover, only one configuration option is available for buyers in Ukraine - Standard for 14 thousand dollars.

The car is equipped with a 1,5-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 106 hp. and 5-speed manual transmission. Front suspension - MacPherson strut with anti-roll bar, rear - semi-independent spring.

Emgrand 100 can accelerate to 7 km/h in 13 seconds, and its maximum speed is 170 km/h. AI-95 gasoline consumption is 5,7 liters on a suburban highway and 9,4 liters in the city.

The design team led by British specialist Peter Horbury refreshed the Emgrand's exterior, and the interior was updated by another Briton, Justin Scully.

Airbags are provided for the driver and front passenger. The rear seat has ISOFIX child seat locks. ABS, electronic brake force distribution (EBD), stability control, immobilizer, alarm, brake pad wear sensor are also available.

The S2 can be considered a direct competitor to the Tiggo 2. It is equipped with a 1,5 liter petrol engine with 113 hp, which works in conjunction with a 5-speed manual gearbox or CVT. Front suspension - MacPherson strut, rear - torsion beam. The maximum speed is 170 km / h, the fuel consumption declared by the manufacturer is very moderate - 6,5 liters in mixed mode.

Safety is fully consistent with European standards - airbags for the driver and front passenger, ABS, stability control, emergency braking and brake force distribution, as well as an energy-absorbing steering column.

There is an alarm and immobilizer, fog lights, power mirrors and side windows, tire pressure control, rear parking sensors, air conditioning and, of course, an audio system with leather steering wheel controls.

The more expensive Intelligent trim has cruise control, a convenient rearview camera, heated mirrors and leather trim.

The minimum price in Ukraine is $11900.

The elastic, moderately stiff suspension may not be to everyone's liking, but it copes with its tasks on a bumpy road perfectly. Also worth noting is good maneuverability due to the small turning radius.

Brakes and steering work flawlessly. But in general, the car is designed for a calm, measured ride.

The main disadvantages are the lack of steering wheel adjustment for reach and seat heating, as well as mediocre sound insulation.

Great Wall Haval M4

Closes our Top 5 is another crossover from Great Wall.

The compact B-class car is equipped with a 95 hp 5 liter petrol engine. The transmission, depending on the configuration, is a 6-speed manual, a XNUMX-speed automatic or a robot. The drive in all variants is front.

Up to 100 km / h, the car accelerates in 12 seconds, and the maximum speed is 170 km / h. Moderate appetites: 5,8 liters in the country, 8,6 liters - in the urban cycle, with a manual transmission - half a liter more.

The ground clearance of 185 mm will allow you to easily drive onto curbs and confidently overcome moderate off-road conditions. And the elastic, energy-intensive suspension will provide comfort even on a bad road. So it is quite possible to drive the Haval M4 on country roads and broken asphalt. You can't count on more with a monodrive.

But this model does not differ in good dynamics, overtaking on the highway must be done carefully, especially if the air conditioner is on. In general, Haval M4 is not designed for fast driving, its element is city streets, where it is very good due to maneuverability and small dimensions.

As in other models reviewed, there are all the necessary security systems, anti-theft equipment, full power accessories, headlight range control, air conditioning. This is in the Comfort variant, which will cost the buyer $13200. The Luxury and Elite packages additionally include heated front seats, a rear-view camera, parking sensors and some other options.

Unfortunately, in the Haval M4, the driver's seat is not adjustable in height, and only the angle of inclination can be changed at the steering wheel. For some, this may not be very convenient. The three of us will be cramped in the back, which is not surprising for a class B car. Well, the trunk is quite small, however, its capacity can be increased by folding the rear seats.

Nevertheless, solid equipment, good looks and affordable price clearly outweigh the shortcomings of this model.

The current attitude towards the products of the Chinese automobile industry is based on the stereotypes that developed in previous years, when cars from the Middle Kingdom only began to appear in Ukraine and really were not of high quality.

However, the Chinese are fast learners and progress fast. Although the low price remains a key factor in promoting the sale of cars from China, the quality and reliability of their products have clearly increased. Impressive and rich equipment, which is available in most models already in the basic configuration. This is not the same China we are used to. And the cars presented above clearly confirm this.
