Replacing the silent blocks of the rear suspension Geely SK

In any car there is a fairly large number of parts called a silent block. In fact, this is a kind of rubber-metal hinge made of two metal sleeves, between which a rubber or polyurethane bushing is pressed.

In a car, such a hinge is used to fasten various parts, providing not only mobility, but also vibration damping. Their distinctive feature is the noiselessness of work, for which they got their name, because silent in English means quiet, soundless.

      When is replacement required

This detail is not easy to see even with a close inspection. Meanwhile, only in the rear suspension of Geely CK there are as many as 12 of them. Here they serve to fasten the transverse and trailing arms.

Silent blocks do not need to be lubricated as they are friction-free, maintenance-free and immune to dirt and corrosion. They serve for a long time - up to 100 thousand kilometers and even more, silently doing their job.

However, extreme temperature fluctuations, harsh chemicals, regular overexertion, Schumacher-style driving and other negative factors are gradually taking their toll. Cracks and ruptures appear in the elastic insert, which lead to the failure of the part and the need to replace it.

Damage to rubber or polyurethane can be detected upon close inspection, after working with a damp cloth.

Due to aggressive driving and shock loads, the seats of the silent blocks may be broken, and then you will have to change the parts in which they are installed - the trunnion, the levers. Therefore, at the slightest play, which is often manifested by knocks in the suspension, take immediate action to avoid additional financial costs.

Flaking of the rubber from the outer sleeve can cause the rubber bushing to rub against the metal, often accompanied by a squeak or squeal. As a rule, such sounds appear at the beginning of the movement, and after a short run they disappear. This is usually the first sign of a failing silent block.

Because of the rubber-metal hinges that have become unusable, the camber / convergence will inevitably be disturbed. This, in turn, can impair handling, slow down steering response, and reduce cornering stability.

What silent blocks are used in the Geely CK rear suspension

The rear suspension of Geely SK includes six levers - two transverse and one longitudinal on the right and left. There are two silent blocks for each lever.

Part numbers according to the catalog:

2911040001 (in the diagram at number 4) - silent block with a diameter of 15 mm for the rear wishbone (for collapse) - 2 pcs.

2911020001 (in the diagram at number 5) - silent block with a diameter of 13 mm for the rear transverse arm and pin (upper) - 6 pcs.

2911052001 (in the diagram at number 6) - silent block of the rear trailing arm and trunnion (lower) - 4 pcs.

In the kitaec.ua store you can either purchase them from 12 pieces. They are also available for the front and rear suspension of the Geely SK.

If during the repair process it becomes clear that it is necessary to replace other parts, for example, the camber bushing (1400609180) or bolts (they sometimes completely boil and have to be cut off), then these can also be ordered from the Chinese online store.

      Replacement procedure in Geely CK

Of the tools you will need:

      • and, in particular, on , , .

      • .

      • .

      • WD-40 for easier loosening of bolts and nuts.

      • .

      • .

      • Bulgarian is also better to have on hand. It may be necessary to cut off boiled bolts.

For work, you will need a viewing hole.

      1. We tear off the nuts of the right rear wheel.

Raise the car with a jack, unscrew the nuts and remove the wheel.

      2. Unscrew the stabilizer mount.

      3. Unscrew the nut and remove the bolt securing the right transverse arm.

      4. From the opposite end of the lever, unscrew the nut and take out the adjusting bolt responsible for the camber correction.

      Remove the cross arm.

      5. Similarly, dismantle the second transverse lever on the right.

      6. Unscrew the nut and remove the bolt securing the right trailing arm.

      7. We do the same on the opposite side of the trailing arm and remove it.

      8. Then we do all these operations on the left side of the machine.

      9. It is convenient to press the silent block out of the lever using a sleeve of a suitable diameter and a vice.

      10. You can also press a new hinge into the lever using a vice.

First, clean the seat from dirt and rust.

If the hinge is rubber, lubricate it with liquid soap or dishwashing gel. Oil corrodes rubber, so you can not use it. If the insert is polyurethane, the oil will not harm it.

      11. You can remove the silent block from the trunnion using a long bolt, squeezing it out from the opposite side with a nut.

Since the silent block cannot be repaired, more barbaric methods can be used, for example, breaking, burning out, etc. It is only important not to damage the seat and the trunnion as a whole.

      12. Using a similar “bolt-nut” method, you can also press the part into the trunnion. Insert a sufficiently long bolt of suitable diameter into it, and on the opposite side, screw the nut through the washer and sleeve. Again, don't forget the soap.

      13. After pressing all the silent blocks, reinstall the levers and the stabilizer bar. Don't forget to grease the bolts so you don't have to cut them next time.

Screw nuts, but do not tighten!

      14. Screw on the wheels and lower the car from the jacks.

      15. Only now, when the silent blocks have received a working load, you can tighten the fastening nuts.

But don't be in a hurry to hit the road.

Even if you successfully coped with the replacement of the silent blocks of the Geely SK rear suspension on your own, you still cannot do without visiting a car service, because after repair work of this kind, it is imperative to carry out the camber / toe adjustment procedure.
