This is one of the conclusions that can be drawn from the ranking list released by the Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI), a research arm backed by US insurance companies. The Institute collects and processes data on traffic accidents and collisions for the needs of insurance companies. The institute's latest study, covering cars from 1998-2000, compared individual models in terms of the cost of treating human injuries from traffic accidents. The five-door Saab 9-3 topped the midsize group, while the Saab 9-5 sedan and Saab 9-3 convertible topped their respective categories.
