SIP system

Volvo owes such excellent results to the special design of its vehicles. Already 10 years ago, when designing the Volvo 850, it introduced the unique SIPS system, which protects the car's passengers from the effects of side impacts, and automatically adjusting seat belts. Later, side airbags began to be used in cars. The Volvo S80 model received additional innovative technical solutions.

Curtain IC (Inflatable Curtain)

The IC curtain is hidden in the ceiling of the car. In a side impact with a car, it inflates in just 25 milliseconds and falls through a cutout in the lid. Works with both closed and open glass. It closes the rigid elements of the car interior, protecting the passenger's head. The sunshade can absorb 75% of the energy of a head impact on the car body and protects passengers from being thrown into the side window.

WHIPS (Whiplash Protection System)

WHIPS, Whiplash Protection System, is activated in the event of a rear-end collision.
