I hit a cat with a car - what to do? What is it for? Signs

Our smaller brothers - cats, dogs - cannot know the rules of the road, so they often fall under the wheels of cars. Even on the streets of big cities, you can see the corpses of animals that will lie there until they are removed by public utilities workers. And the drivers themselves rarely stop to at least drag the animal to the side of the road, not to mention the provision of some kind of veterinary care.

All this indicates a low level of empathy - compassion, empathy. We are no longer surprised to see homeless people on the street who can die of hunger and cold, and no one counts homeless dogs and cats at all.

Shot down an animal (cat) - what does the law say?

We have already written on our website Vodi.su about what to do if you hit a dog. If a cat or dog has an owner and because of his oversight the animal ran out onto the roadway, then the situation may end up in court, since the animal is considered private property. True, the owner will need to prove that he walked the cat or dog in accordance with all the rules - she was wearing a collar and a leash. Usually, such cases are won by drivers, unless, of course, the owner can prove that the driver did not violate the traffic rules - he exceeded the speed limit.

If the driver completely fled the scene, then it is considered that he fled the scene of an accident, since hitting an animal is a traffic accident. In this case, he will either be deprived of his rights for 12-18 months, or arrested for 15 days.

Well, about stray animals it is said that they are neglected, that is, a priori, they must have an owner, even if he threw this animal into the street. Accordingly, hitting a stray cat or a stray dog is also an accident, and the driver has no right to leave the scene.

What to do if you hit a cat?

First of all, we must be guided by the Rules of the Road - part two (Duties and rights of drivers) clause 2.5 (what to do in case of an accident).

It says that the driver must stop his car, turn on the emergency gang and put up an emergency stop sign. If the car interferes with the movement of other road users, clear the roadway, having previously recorded all traces of the incident and interviewing witnesses.

Then you need to provide all possible measures to help the victims (note that there is no difference in the traffic rules, who was injured - a person or an animal): provide first aid, deliver with your own transport or passing to the nearest medical facility, call an ambulance.

Notify the police or traffic police about the incident and wait for their arrival.

Ideally, this should be the case, but in reality, drivers continue their movement without even stopping. Many of them even say that they did not notice a cat or a dog.

If you have even a drop of sympathy, we offer step-by-step instructions in this situation:

  • stop on the side of the road so that you cannot be hit by another car;
  • check the condition of the animal - do not forget that it can be very aggressive in such a situation, cover it with a blanket or cloth and take it to the curb;
  • inspect the wound site, apply a bandage or tourniquet;
  • if the bleeding is heavy, apply pressure to the injured area to stop the bleeding;
  • call the nearest clinic and take the animal there.

If the animal is dead or the damage is so severe that nothing can be done, take it to the vet anyway. In the first case, they will bury the corpse in a specially designated area, in the second case, they will give a soporific injection so that the cat does not suffer. In many cities there are volunteer services that take care of such animals, it is even possible that the cat will go out and find new owners for it.

In any case, you can’t leave a dead cat on the road, bury it at least somewhere, away from the road.

If the animal has an owner, then the issue needs to be resolved with him - to bring the case to court, wait for the arrival of the traffic police, or decide everything on the spot and give money for treatment.

Hit a cat - what is it for? (signs)

It is clear that any accident, as a result of which animals die, is very unpleasant for any person. Among motorists, there are some signs about this. To believe or not to believe in signs is everyone's business, we will just give some of them, and you decide for yourself.

Cats are a kind of sacred animals, because for many millennia they live next to humans. Our ancestors, if they ran into a cat or a dog on a cart or an animal fell under the hooves of a horse, saw this as a bad sign, and tried to atone for their sin in the church.

In our time, it is also believed that this leads to bad consequences - such a car is unhappy and everything is possible that the next time a person may become a victim, or a more serious accident awaits you.

There is also a belief - "to bring down a cat - 7 years of good luck not to be seen."

Drivers say that if you hit a cat, you need to twist the hat on your head. There are also special prayers that need to be read in the church and light a candle. If the cat fell under the wheels of a wedding car, then this is a harbinger of imminent misfortunes in this new family.

There is a rational grain in all this - if a person does not notice animals on the road, then he may not notice a person either.

Follow this example.
