Chevrolet Lacetti SW 2.0 CDTI Platinum

Korean GM DART bought a license from Italian company VM Motori, and then developed an engine in its own way, which, thanks to a pre-catalyst and main catalyst with a particulate filter, is anchored among the cleaner diesels meeting the Euro4 emission standard. regulation.

Lacetti got a weaker version of this engine (only 89 kW), while the larger and heavier Captiva and Epica received more power (110 kW). The secret, of course, is in the charging mode, since the Lacetti has a classic fixed blade turbocharger, and the older brothers are armed with electrically controlled and electronically assisted paddles, but you can trust us that a good 120 'horses in the Lacetti will be enough for more demanding users. ...

The engine, which is not one of the quietest, but nonetheless does not discomfort to the ears, sovereignly accelerates from 1.800 to 4.000 rpm when the torque curve begins to call for help from the transmission. It is mechanical and only five-speed, but the gear ratios overlap perfectly, so that the Lacetti accelerates to 150 km / h, while remaining pleasing to the ears of passengers. Of course, we know right away that we need sixth gear anyway, since the test consumption of just over nine liters can most likely be attributed to higher rpm on the highway.

The Lacetti we drove also had a huge trunk. If you have a large family, if you are a commercial traveler or a fan of outdoor activities, then you cannot miss the SW version. The base boot measures 400 liters and the rear bench is still split by a third in favor of greater ease of use, making the boot easily expandable. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the luggage compartment, the designers of which also installed useful boxes under the bottom, which, as ordered, are designed to carry small items.

Well, since we've covered the front and rear of the car, let's say a few more words about the middle. The whole family will easily fit in the cabin, especially if the children are small, and the driver will only miss a more communicative steering wheel and gear lever, which pleases with accuracy, but sometimes unpleasantly surprises with jamming. Of course, all passengers will appreciate the comfortable chassis, which is confused only by short successive irregularities, powerful air conditioning, confident four airbags and ABS. The only thing we lacked was the ESP system.

In the end, it doesn't matter if the bike is signed by Italians or Koreans. The only important thing is that the Lacetti SW successfully follows the fashion trend, which at least for the moment shows a bright future for turbodiesels - at least in Europe.

evaluation

  • Plenty of equipment (and it doesn't have ESP or an onboard computer), a huge trunk, and a reasonably powerful turbodiesel (which is pretty thirsty) convinced us that hard-to-please families will be more than happy with this car.
