Penalty for driving on the sidewalk 2016

Every driver knows that driving on sidewalks is prohibited. By committing this violation, the driver poses a danger to all road users: pedestrians and other vehicles. In addition, when driving onto the sidewalk, you have to drive onto the curb, and this is often fraught with damage to the tires of the car and the road surface itself.

However, often the markings and demarcation of the carriageway and pedestrian areas leave much to be desired, and you may not guess that at the moment you are on the sidewalk. This is more typical for small towns, where the road surface is in poor condition.

Fines for driving on the sidewalk and improper parking are stipulated in article 12.15 of the Code of Administrative Legal Violations. In particular, article 12.15 part 2 clearly states that it is forbidden to ride on footpaths, sidewalks and bicycle paths. If you are caught by the traffic police, you will have to pay a fine in the amount of 2 thousand rubles.

There is one more "but", namely - the movement on the sidewalks is prohibited only if you violate the rules of the road. To find out who can drive in and move along footpaths and sidewalks, you need to open paragraph 9.9 of the Rules.

Exiting and driving on sidewalks is only allowed if you are a driver of a vehicle delivering goods to stores, provided that there is no other detour to reach this store. Also, the movement is allowed for cars of city services for repair work.

In normally developed cities, the sidewalk is separated from the road with a curb or lawn, and the footpath is marked with a 4.5 sign - a white outline of a pedestrian on a blue background. The zone of action of this sign extends from the place of its installation to the nearest intersection.

According to the rules, only vehicles specified in paragraph 9.9 of the SDA - delivery of goods, utilities have the right to enter the pedestrian zone. Ordinary motorists can also enter the footpath, but only in order to get to the objects they need, in the absence of other detours, while ensuring the safety of passers-by.

Thus, if you have no desire to pay a fine of 2 thousand rubles, repeat the concepts of “sidewalk”, “pedestrian and bicycle paths”, and try to always adhere to the rules of the road.
