Fine for stopping at a public transport stop in 2016

Stops for public transport are always very busy places on the roadway. Minibuses, trolleybuses and buses are constantly driving up and leaving here, a large number of people forget about any traffic rules, rushing after the bus they need. And if even in this turmoil some motorist wants to park, then this will create a lot of interference for both minibuses and passengers.

Based on this, paragraph 12,4 of the SDA says that it is forbidden to stop at stops. It is also forbidden to stop in the stop zone, which extends to 15 meters.

It is very easy to determine the stopping place by the presence of road signs - “trolleybus, tram, bus stop”. Stopping at taxi stops is also prohibited. In addition to road signs, the stopping place is distinguished by special markings applied to the roadway.

Important - the stop zone is 15 meters, and also applies to the opposite side of the carriageway if the width of the road is less than 15 meters.

There is one moment in the traffic rules that still allows you to stop at a bus stop, but only in order to drop off or put passengers in a car. However, this can only be done if you do not interfere with the movement of other vehicles. Also, in the event of a car breakdown, you can stop, but you need to take measures to quickly clear the roadway.

Despite the fact that everything is very clearly described in the rules, there are still people who violate these requirements and then bear the appropriate punishment.

Article 12,19, part 3,1 says that a driver who has violated the rules will have to pay a fine in the amount of one thousand rubles. This is not the most severe punishment, because this article also provides for the evacuation of the car, and this is already a significantly higher expense, since you will have to pay for the services of a tow truck and a penalty area.

If, by his actions, the driver has created obstacles for other road users, then the amount of the fine, according to Article 12,4, automatically increases to two thousand rubles, and the detention of the car with subsequent sending to the penalty area is also considered as an option.

The Code also contains one more exception for residents of capital cities - Moscow and St. Petersburg. For them, the amount of the fine for stopping at a passenger transport stop is three thousand rubles. If the driver is not on the spot, the car will be sent to the penalty area.

Thus, in order not to pay fines and not to pick up the car from the penalty area, do not stop at stops. Even if you are carrying passengers, then drop them off a little further from the stop - walking 15 meters is not such a big problem.
