Fine for not having a child seat in a car in 2016

Traffic regulations require drivers to use special seats when transporting children in a car. This requirement is related to security issues. Let's see why you need to transport children in car seats.

Firstly, children in the car, however, as in ordinary life, are always a hassle. The driver cannot fully concentrate on the road, he has to constantly look back and see what the child is doing. And children can very easily get mom's lipstick out of her purse and paint door glass or seat covers with it, they can open a window or try to unlock doors, they can get a polish for the front panel and taste it.

Secondly, during sudden stops or accelerations, the child may fall out of his seat and hit his head painfully. If there are several kids in the cabin, then they will begin to play pranks, distract the driver from control, be interested in everything, for example, how to change gears or how the wipers work. Such pictures are known to many adults who have to transport children.

According to statistics, the presence of a child seat three times reduces the likelihood that a child will be seriously injured during an accident. Well, because of his pampering, the child himself can very easily cause an accident - just a fraction of a second is enough to be distracted from the road, and you can get into an accident.

Based on all this, the presence of a child seat in the car is not only welcome, but also legally fixed. If a traffic inspector stops your car and sees that you are transporting a child without special safety equipment, then you will not escape the fine.

Until November 2013, there was no separate article on child seats in the Code of Administrative Offenses, and the absence of a car seat was equated to the fact that you were driving without wearing a seat belt.

However, a new article has appeared - 12.23 part three, which says that if safety rules are not observed during the transportation of children, then the driver will have to pay three thousand rubles.

Let's take a closer look at what exactly is said in the SDA about the rules for transporting children.

In paragraph 22,9, the following is stated in this regard:

  • to ensure safety, the car must be equipped with special restraints.

A car seat must be installed if children under the age of twelve and up to one and a half meters tall are transported in the front seat.

If the child is transported in the back seat, then he must be fastened with a seat belt. The standard belt is designed for an adult, but they will not be able to fasten a child, the belt can crush his neck, which will result in serious injuries in the event of an accident. That is, we see that it is not necessary to use a child car seat in the rear seats; for example, you can put a pillow under the child. However, if you really care about your child, then it is better to buy a chair after all, especially since it is not so expensive, and there is a wide selection in stores.

Child car seats are divided into groups depending on the height and weight of the child. The smallest options are designed for children up to nine months old and weighing up to 10 kg, and the largest seat is for children 150 cm tall and weighing no more than 36 kg. According to the rules, you need to carry a child in a chair when he reaches 12 years of age or the specified parameters.
