Folding bike: electric Brompton expected in early 2018

In an effort to position itself in a fast-growing segment, British brand Brompton have just unveiled their first folding electric bike. The launch is expected in early 2018.

The largest bike manufacturer in the United Kingdom, Brompton is starting the electric bike adventure. This very first model, developed in collaboration with the Wiliamns Advanced Engineerin team, uses a 36V 250W electric motor located in the front wheel and a 300Wh (36V – 8.5Ah) battery with a capacity of 2.2kg. Removable, it is in a bag on the front of the steering wheel and provides an autonomy of 40 to 50 kilometers.

Clearly heavier than the classic versions, this first electric Brompton weighs 16.6 kg (17.3 kg in the 6-speed version), comes in two colors - white or black - and offers two types of shifters: two or six speeds.
