The benefits of OP include:

• can be used to extinguish fires of any category;
• speed (a jet under pressure breaks out of the socket in 2-3 seconds);
• they need to be recharged once every five years;
• there is a pressure gauge;
• it is possible to extinguish electrical equipment, liquid or solid substances at a flame temperature of up to 1000 degrees;
• the possibility of re-ignition is completely excluded.

Gas with powder under pressure escapes from the fire extinguisher and forms a film on the surface, which isolates the flame from oxygen access and the fire quickly goes out.

The only problem is that stains remain on the surface, which are then very difficult to wash off.

Carbon dioxide fire extinguishers cost twice as much as powder.

The prices for OUs today are as follows:

• OU-1 (2 liters) - 450-490 rubles;
• OU-2 (3 liters) - 500 rubles;
• OU-3 (5 l.) - 650 r .;
• OU-5 (8 l.) - 1000 r .;
• OU-10 (10 l.) - 2800 rubles.

In cars, they are used less often because they weigh more than the OP, for example, a 5-liter fire extinguisher weighs about 14 kilograms. In addition, the balloon itself takes up more space, and its bottom is not flat, but rounded.

Extinguishing is carried out by carbon dioxide - a gas that is pumped into a cylinder under high pressure. Therefore, you need to carefully follow the safety rules - a fire extinguisher can spontaneously start releasing foam if it stays at elevated temperatures for a long time, for example, in summer under a truck awning heated in the sun or in the trunk of a car.

Also, carbon dioxide is cooled to a temperature of minus 70-80 degrees and you can freeze your hand if the jet hits it or if you accidentally grab the bell. But the undoubted advantages of carbon dioxide fire extinguishers include their better ability to extinguish the flame. True, their speed is not the same as that of the OP, the jet is supplied 8-10 seconds after pulling out the checks. Recharging should be done once every 5 years.

Aerosol or air-foam fire extinguishers (ORP) - not in great demand due to the limited content of the mixture. The ready-made mixture is pumped into them under pressure, and it is unlikely to be enough for a big fire. Traffic police inspectors are skeptical about the ORP. Also, ORP is not used to extinguish substances that burn without access to air, such as electrical equipment.

They are mainly used to extinguish smoldering solids and flammable liquids.

Well, among other things, it is quite difficult to find an ORP with a volume of 2-5 liters. 5 liter air foam fire extinguisher will cost around 400 rubles. They are used mainly in warehouses, indoors, in garages - that is, for a garage it will be a normal choice.

You can also find other types of fire extinguishers:

• air-emulsion;
• water;
• self-triggering.

But for your car, the best choice, of course, would be an ordinary two-liter powder fire extinguisher. 300 rubles is not that much money, but you will be ready for any ignition.
