Employees: how to get a € 400 bike bonus?

Officially approved by decree, this € 400 package aims to encourage employees to commute to work by bicycle or e-bike.

While France is in decline, the measures in favor of cycling are linked. Following the introduction of a € 50 bonus for bicycle repairs, the government has just announced a new measure specifically for employees.

Starting Monday, May 11, companies will be able to create a sustainable mobility package. Officially issued by a decree published on Sunday, May 10, this measure allows employers to provide assistance of up to 400 euros per year to workers who come to work by bicycle or e-bike. Exempt from income tax and social security contributions, this flat rate replaces the bicycle mileage allowance introduced in 2016. The new system is simpler and no longer requires the employee to justify the kilometers traveled.

« The package can be combined with the employer's participation in the public transport subscription, but the tax credits received from the two benefits cannot exceed a maximum amount of € 400 per year up to the refund amount of the transport subscription. »The press release of the ministry is being specified. For the civil service, assistance is limited to 200 euros per year per employee. To take advantage of this, the employee must be able to prove that he or she commuted to work by bike or along the way for at least one hundred days a year.

How do I get a bike pass?

To receive the € 400 bonus, each employee will have to get close to their employer.

It should be noted that this mobility package also covers car sharing, shared personal vehicles (scooters, bicycles or scooters) and car sharing, provided that a service that does not use thermal imagers is used.

« This individual financial support can be critical when designing bike lanes or designated parking lanes. I urge all employers to implement it massively and quickly to enable millions of French people to take the plunge towards pure mobility. Environment Minister Elizabeth Bourne said.
