The old rules do not apply: when it is especially profitable to buy a new car

The economic tsunami that has not subsided in Russia since 2014 has completely changed not only the approach of Russians to expensive purchases, but also the time of visiting dealerships. It used to be the way it was before: after the new year, “for discounts” and “for bonuses”. You can forget everything - these rules and decency do not work anymore. New era - new laws.

The key factor in buying a car has remained the same - the price. The interest of buyers is tied to the cost of goods: the end of 2014, famous for the sharp depreciation of the national currency, was marked by heavy demand for cars. Even those who did not plan to change the car rushed to do it while the "old" prices held. Having cleaned the car dealerships dry, the Russians forgot about new cars until 2017, and several automakers simply turned off their business in the territory of the Russian Federation, selling off the rest in warehouses.

The stability of the ruble in 2017 affected demand: the buyer began to come for new cars, the sellers of used cars became more active. The market began to grow. But since January 2018, the domestic currency has again fallen into a wide corridor of volatility with the dollar and the euro, forcing automakers to constantly raise prices for their product. But buyers have not yet fully accepted the leap of 2014! So when do you buy cars now?

The best time to make a deal, according to analytics, is April. There are still enough last year's cars in dealer warehouses, which creates good ground for bargaining. But, most importantly, in April, companies pay taxes to the treasury, stabilizing the ruble, which means that sharp price increases are not expected. On the contrary, the ruble will strengthen. The second most popular month is August. After the summer stagnation, at the end of the holiday season, dealers lower prices from heaven to the upper limits of the troposphere. But a stable ruble in August is not to be expected - 1998 is still in my memory.

Even the models assembled in Russia are “tied” to the “green” rate, so it’s not so difficult to calculate an imminent price increase: if the “American” climbed uphill, then wait for the next price tag update. Saving up in such a situation is impossible, so the only sure way to change the car is auto loan. First, credit offers from car dealers today are sometimes more profitable than buying for cash. And secondly, when buying a car under a loan agreement, you fix its cost. Any economist will confirm: there is no more correct step in any crisis than to fixate.
