A versatile bike, but essentially (like all V-Stroms). Agile and manageable on the move, comfortable on long journeys (with a long 6th gear), fun and balanced between turns and off-road). It is equipped with a 69 hp twin-cylinder engine that pushes the low revs heavily and consumes little. 

Lightweight and comfortable bike, fun and not too thirsty, ideal for 360 ° use and low in handling and maintenance costs.

These are the main qualities of the new Suzuki V-strom 650 ABS XTAn adventurous version of the Japanese manufacturer's historic crossover was the subject of our road tests.

650 Suzuki V-Strom 2015 XT

Suzuki V-Strom 650XT is different beak (also available as an option for standard model owners), reminiscent of the front end of the V-Strom 1000 big sister.

He has a new one tank shape, thinner than before to give more legroom to the rider. The windshield has a new design and is adjustable in three levels; it's just a pity that the adjustment is manual and requires tools.

Off-road vocation is highlighted new 17 '' spoke wheels at the rear and 19 '' at the front (with 110/80 tires at the front and 150/70 at the rear) is lighter and better absorbs bumps in the asphalt at low speeds.

The engine is always Four-stroke, V-twin, 90 ° steering, 69 hp. and a maximum torque of 60 Nm, slightly modified in the delivery. The aluminum frame with two beams has been further reinforced.

A 43mm fork and monoshock, both pre-tensioned, complete the picture.

city

Suzuki V-Strom 650XT it is an easy to handle and extremely responsive bike, so much so that the claimed 215kg seems like a breeze (the weight is already foreseen for this segment).

In city traffic, it behaves very well, and the soft suspension setting allows you to drive with great comfort even on roads with damaged asphalt and on cobblestones.

It can be annoying - but it's only a matter of minutes, time to get carried away - a slight on-off that is felt at low speeds. The gearbox is precise and suffers only a little from the cold.

Outside the city

Suzuki V-Strom 650XT It is also the perfect bike for walking alone or as a couple. On the road, but also off-road, thanks to the spoked wheels and slightly bulging tires (ABS that can be turned off at the rear would be the icing on the cake).

It is extremely comfortable with a wide seat for the driver and passenger. The engine runs very well and is now improved in delivery and is able to guarantee excellent traction even at low revs.

It consumes very little energy and also allows for a sportier driving pleasure. However, if you are driving fast, remember that the brakes are calibrated soft and you need to squeeze the levers well to shorten the stopping distance.

The windshield fulfills its duty even at the longest speeds. You travel comfortably and well protected, alone or in pairs. The long sixth gear helps reduce fuel consumption: at 130 km / h, you can drive over 21 km / l.

Vibrations are also decidedly low, which is almost surprising how efficient the 69 hp twin is in this regard. The comfort is, therefore, high in this case as well. 

Price and costs

Suzuki V-Strom 650XT sold at dealerships in three colors - white, red and matte gray - at prices from 8.590 euro (same price as the City version, which has now dropped to € 8.190).

It's highly customizable. Suffer from set of hard bag and top case – which we highly recommend on this type of motorcycle – up to a 12V outlet through the paramotor bars and LED fog lights.
