E-Bike Maintenance: Our advice for taking proper care of your e-bike!

Just like a regular power bike, an electric bike needs to be serviced regularly. This will ensure its long-term functioning. By following these few steps, your e-bike will remain in top condition!

How often should I service my e-bike?

If you care about your eBike, prove it to him! Pamper it regularly, especially after every dirty walk: walk in the forest, in the snow, near salt water ... Even if it's off-road, your e-bike can get dirty, to avoid corrosion of parts (and for aesthetics!), Clean often.

When it comes to maintenance, an electric bike hardly needs more attention than a regular bike. Ideally, do a small overhaul at the store once a year to update the system and have a technician check the engine for leaks. In the event of a breakdown or an error message on the on-board computer, the manufacturer conducts diagnostics.

How to take care of your e-bike?

  • Regularly check the condition of the cables and connectors for frayed cables and deformed sheathing. If worn out, contact an Authorized Service Center.
  • Check brake wear: look at the brake pad lugs that make contact with the rim. If they are severely tarnished or damaged, they must be replaced.
  • Check tire pressure and condition.
  • Lovingly clean your bike!
  • If you are not going to use the bike for a long time, remove the screens and the battery and store them in a dry place with a stable temperature (neither too hot nor too cold).

How to properly clean an e-bike?

Washing a bike is instinctive: rubbing a dirty place!

Before you start, be sure to remove the battery and cover the displays with a cloth or sheet of paper to protect them. Then a few simple steps:

  1. Rinse the bike with water to remove coarse dirt, grime, etc. Warning: Avoid high pressure jets!
  2. Use a sponge and soapy water to thoroughly clean all parts. You can also use specialty products such as bike shampoo or degreaser if the contamination is severe. Use a brush for sprockets, sprockets and derailleur.
  3. Clean the chain with a degreaser and a brush (a toothbrush is very effective!). Remember to rub on all four sides.
  4. Lubricate the chain with special lubricant regularly. This helps protect it from moisture. To do this, apply oil to the brush, attach to the chains and twist the cranks. Remove excess oil with absorbent paper.

How do I save my e-bike battery?

To ensure durability, avoid storing your bike battery in extreme temperatures. If you don't use it for a long time (like winter), make sure it is about 30-60% charged. This will prevent damage if left for weeks.

Ideally, let the battery drain completely once or twice a year to reload the electronic card.
