Technical description Honda Civic VI

Another part of the very popular Honda model. Great interest in previous versions forced the manufacturer to improve and modernize the already modern Civic. The cars are very popular due to the low failure rate, good workmanship and good optional equipment offered as standard.

TECHNICAL ASSESSMENT

The car is very well made and well equipped, even in the basic version. As usual, the manufacturer focused on a quality car with good utility numbers. Many versions of engines and body types allow you to choose the right car for the preferences of the owner.

TYPICAL FAULTS

Steering system

Serious malfunctions were not observed, power steering failures sometimes occur. Tie rod ends are often replaced (Photo 1) with subsequent natural wear.

Transmission

No typical malfunctions were observed for the model, leaks are possible in the area of \uXNUMXb\uXNUMXbthe cardan shaft, very accurate and quiet gearboxes.

Clutch

Hydraulic control was used and this is where slave cylinder failures and system leaks can occur (Photo 2). Plus normal wear and tear. A properly maintained vehicle can go many thousands of miles without changing the clutch.

ENGINE

The drives are almost perfect, the only drawback is the cracked collectors, which are clogged with a catalyst, they often have cracks in the civic (Photo 3). The oil pan very often corrodes up to complete perforation (Photo 4). A strange phenomenon, the bowl usually fights against leaks from this number (Photo 5), and corrosion progresses, probably due to the proximity of a heat-tolerant catalyst. The exhaust system is highly corroded at higher mileage (Photo 6).

Hamulce

Corrosion is common to the metal components of the piping system, outer drums, and perimeter guards. Handbrake cables seize and cause faster wear on jaws and drums.

Body

Anti-corrosion protection of the body is quite well developed, but most of the cars imported into the country are cars after the so-called. transitions, so you need to pay attention to the quality and thickness of the varnish layer. Often even very beautiful and trouble-free specimens are heavily rusted from the bottom (Photo 7).

Electrical installation

Sometimes there are faded contacts in electrical connectors, there may also be a failure of the central lock or power windows. Electric mirrors also sometimes refuse to obey (Fig. 8).

Photo 8

Suspension

A very complex suspension with a lot of damaged elements, a lot of metal-rubber elements both front and rear (Photo 9). Suspension repairs can be quite expensive due to the large number of parts, but the ride comfort of such a suspension can offset the costs incurred.

Photo 9

interior

Spacious and comfortable interior, all controls are at hand (Photo 10). The chairs are comfortable and the upholstery is durable and aesthetic. After some time, it may happen that the bulbs illuminating the blower panel burn out (Photo 11).

SUMMARY

Robust and very economical car, the offer of engine and bodywork allows everyone to choose something for themselves. The engines are economical and have few failures when operated correctly.
