Repair of thresholds

Thresholds protect the body from various damages and are strong metal pipes welded to the sides of the car. The loads on these elements associated with the periodic boarding and disembarking of passengers, side collisions, etc., significantly reduce their resource. Despite the fact that the thresholds are made of high quality steel, they quickly rust.

Threshold restoration begins with an inspection of the door hinges. If they sag, then the gap between the door and the threshold will be uneven. Therefore, the hinges are first adjusted, and then the threshold is restored in the following order:

  2. The amplifier (if any) is removed.
  3. Work surfaces are polished.
  4. A new amplifier is installed and welded.

When checking oil scraper rings, it should be borne in mind that the gap between them and the piston grooves, measured with a special probe, should not exceed 0,15 mm. A large gap indicates wear of the rings and the need to replace them.

Replacing the piston group is carried out as follows.

  1. With the help of a mandrel, the piston and connecting rod are interconnected. First, a finger is put on, then the connecting rod is clamped in a vise. A piston is installed on it and the finger is pushed through. In this case, all elements must be generously lubricated with oil.
  2. New rings are installed. First they are lubricated along with the grooves. Then, one oil scraper and two compression rings are installed on each piston (first the lower one, then the upper one).
  3. With the help of a special crimp, the pistons are placed on the block.
  4. With a light tap of a hammer, each piston is lowered into the cylinder.
  5. The connecting rods are fitted with oil-lubricated bushings.
  6. The ease of rotation of the crankshaft is checked.
  7. The pallet with the replaced gasket is installed in place.
  8. The cylinder head and timing drive are installed.
  9. Oil is poured into the engine.
  10. The operation of the engine is checked on a stationary vehicle.

Repair of the VAZ 2107 gearbox

On the latest modifications of the VAZ-2107, a five-speed manual transmission is installed. Box repair is necessary in the following cases.
