Tesla requires service on 15 X Model X. Problem in the power steering system • ELECTRIC CARS
Tesla needs 15 units of Tesla Model X to be repaired, mostly produced before mid-October 2016. Under certain conditions, excessive corrosion may develop on the mounting bolts of one of the power steering components.
The problem is in cold regions where roads are salted with calcium or magnesium chloride.
According to Tesla service call, the problem mainly affects regions with very cold climatesin which the roads are sprayed with calcium or magnesium chloride instead of common table salt (sodium chloride, NaCl). Chlorides of metals other than sodium are used in countries that, in addition to caring for ice-covered surfaces, also take into account the condition of roadside plants. Therefore, contacting customer support does not apply to Poland.

Tesla found that X models driving in these regions are susceptible to accelerated corrosion of the mounting bolts of a certain power steering component. Its name has not been disclosedbut it was noted that the failure could lead to the loss of power steering. Driving should still be possible, but it will take more effort, which can be especially problematic when parking your car.
The problem is expected to affect 15 X Models. According to Electrek, these are the United States and Canada (source), although in fact sodium-free metal salts are also used outside the American continent.
