Test: Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 ABS ATC

The Dorsoduro 1200 fills in a big gap in the offering, as they haven't had anything to install since the days of the great caponord. along with Ducati or KTMwhich are strong competitors in this motorcycle segment.

With the Dorsoduro 750, they showed and proved that they have the knowledge and the recipe for making a big supermoto that will be slightly different from the competition and enough fun and interesting for experienced bikers looking for fun on two wheels.

Also the great Dorsoduro based on the newly developed Aprilia. 1.200 cubic feet twin-cylinder engine with two spark plugs per cylinder and a 90 ° cylinder angle, it stays true to tradition. Sports and entertainment first, then everything else. So it's no coincidence that he has what 130 'horses', wildly squeezing between the legs. Fortunately, Aprilia has been using a gas-injected system for several years now. electric wires, not braid, so you can choose from three different engine characters.

Due to sports restlessness in sport program we used little, it requires good traffic conditions, i.e. good and dry asphalt and lots of turns. Unfortunately, in the city it is too hectic and the programs turn out much better than those of "sport". "tour" in the "rain"... So the most recent, the rain trail with the lowest rear tire grip, turned out to be the friendliest choice for a relaxed, carefree yet dynamic ride. Also anti-slip control rear tires, which Aprilia calls TCS (Aprilia Traction Control) works most efficiently in this engine program.

This means that with a sharp gas supply, the rear wheel will not dance, or even better, it will not be carried away over sand or smooth asphalt. They even went so far that prevent climbing on the rear wheel. So when you open the throttle all the way, the front wheel is lifted 20-30 inches into the air, and then the computer roughly removes the electricity and the front wheel is instantly on the ground again.

The brakes, as we are used to in Aprilia, are top notch! ABS works flawlesslyand braking is a real pleasure thanks to the built-in quality components. In addition to 320mm discs, a pair of radial calipers and a radial pump on the handlebars are also available.

As befits a sports supermoto, this podcast tuned for aggressive driving with no objection to full throttle acceleration or late braking in a corner. Particularly impressive is the front suspension, and the rear shock takes time to get used to and tarnishes. less efficient love really great forks. However, both the front pair of telescopes and the single center damper do not hold up. fully adjustable and very easily adaptable to the wishes of the driver.

It is also ideal for all sports drivers. six-speed gearbox with well-designed gears that drive the motorcycle up to 220 km / h... For the perfect experience, we only need a little less pressure on the clutch lever, but given the sporty nature of the bike, it can be rented. With so many indications of the highest quality components and a convincing Italian design combined with modern technology, everything but “bravo Aprilia” will sound out of the ordinary.

This is a motorcycle very in place in its category, i.e. among the big sports, supermoto motorcycles are entertainment machines. Comfort, convenience in travel is far from the main advantage. Sportiness, power, powerful brakes, adaptive suspension, sporty driving characteristics, cornering fun - this already fully corresponds to the character of the Dorsodura 1200. The more corners, the merrier.
