Test: Beta RR 2T 300 2020 // World Champion

The Tuscan family business has boasted top athletic performance in recent years, winning treadmill titles at the FIM World Enduro Championships. Many of these advances have also led to a whole new generation of enduro models carrying the same DNA.

In Beta, they are betting on a favorable balance between what you get and the price. Quality workmanship, durable components, very powerful 300cc two-stroke engine. See and precise control at high speeds are features that I was able to pick out after my first long drive in the field. From a specialized Moto Mali dealer from Radovlitsa, who also gave us a Beto RR 2T 300 for testing, this particular model costs 8.650 euros.... A fair price of less than ten thousand is certainly an important asset that attracts many enduro enthusiasts. But does it really bring the desired quality?

After the test, I can say that the price is a pretty good realistic indicator of what you are getting. The bike is tall and sleek, the plastics are beautifully finished, with modern lines that might even remind you a bit of a KTM. On small details, such as screws or some accessories, you just notice that somewhere the price is simply known. Otherwise, the feeling when you get on the bike is good. The extra-wide handlebar fits comfortably in your hands and soon makes it clear that the Beta is a car for everyone who is taller as it sits high and also stands very high when it comes to suspension and engine clearance. The seat is large, very comfortable and with very good anti-slip surface when going uphill or accelerating.

Since it stretches far forward towards the fuel filler cap, which can open a little more flatly, the bike's motion when entering a corner is superior as you can put a really good load on the front when entering a corner. It's also a good solution as you can quickly drive through closed corners with it because its center of gravity is slightly higher than the competition, which would otherwise require a little more technical driving skills. On the other hand, when driving over rocks or logs, it is better to climb because with a frame or motor that is otherwise well protected by a plastic shield, you will not hit an obstacle.

The KYB fork and Sachs shock are ideal for enduro use.... Even due to its low weight, which is only 103,5 kilograms without liquids, all this together also ensures reliability and safety, since it holds direction well at higher speeds. When adding gas, concentration is always required, because when turning the lever on the RR 300, everything starts happening very quickly. The engine really lacks power and torque, my only concern was the vibrations that can be felt on gravel roads. I was also surprised by the thirst for the engine. Supposedly this also depends on the carburetor setting, but after two hours of enduro (not motocross), it was necessary to switch to reserve. The tank holds 9,5 liters of pure gasoline, since the oil for the mixture is poured into a separate container.... However, the ratio constantly mixes depending on the needs or engine load.

final grade

A very interesting alternative for those who are taller and rely on a powerful two-stroke engine. This one on an extremely long and steep slope will never disappoint.
