Test: BMW C650 GT

To be honest, before the dealer handed me the keys to the test C650 GT, I didn't know what to expect from the Bavarian Maxi. Since this is a brand new scooter that doesn't really have a predecessor, the only question was whether it would be another cabbage-riding crossover on a motorcycle or a classic scooter. After a week of partying, luckily it turned out to be a scooter. And what.

In general, it works prestigiously, the materials used are of high quality, it works reliably and reliably. The armor around and on the handlebars shows some shallowness in the molding and assembly of plastic parts, but the Bavarians will definitely fix this in the future.

You will find that the ergonomics are among the best in the scooter segment, for both large and small riders, and thanks to the wide seat, even one foot can reach the smallest floor underfoot. Regardless of the position or size of the driver, the view of the entire scooter, the view of the dashboard and the view in the rearview mirrors are excellent. On cold mornings, only the wide central ridge is somewhat bothersome, which forces the legs to be in a fairly wide open position, so the area around the bladder is thoroughly ventilated and (too) exposed to cold.

At the same time, this central ridge is the only flaw that can be blamed on this scooter in the chapter on wind protection. Thanks to the electrically adjustable front visor and the additional folding air deflectors underneath, you can very effectively select the intensity of wind protection at any speed, even while driving.

The spacious under-seat luggage compartment meets all the requirements and does not differ from the average in the class, which is why BMW also provided the driver with two extremely functional storage boxes under the steering wheel. Both are designed as baskets, so you can safely put coins, keys and other similar items in them, which, by their nature, often fall to the ground.

In terms of equipment, this BMW is missing nothing. Safety is ensured by an anti-lock and anti-slip system (the first has more work), from equipment designed for

and engine information, the scooter has it all, including heated grips and seats. An automatic parking brake, which is activated in conjunction with the side step, is also standard.

The handling of the C650 GT is so good that nothing can be more. The neutral and calm, almost sterile driving position gives the driver a truly wonderful feeling of safety and reliability. Asphalt brakes tend to be reminiscent of Beemway, and standard Metzeler tires do the job well. It is also worth noting that the driving performance of the scooter remains unchanged even in the presence of a passenger, which is very important for many.

The two-cylinder engine, which roars pleasantly and silently in the style of powerful speedboats, easily provides the scooter's incredible liveliness. It accelerates to 100 kilometers per hour in about seven seconds, but more importantly, the acceleration from the start is also impressive. The efficiency of the entire drive train is also reflected at full load. With wide open throttle, all propulsion occurs at approximately 6.000 rpm, which is approximately two-thirds of maximum rotation. As a result, you can safely drive at a speed of 140 kilometers per hour, but the average consumption still does not exceed a modest five liters.

The least pleasant feature of this scooter is, of course, the price. For a scooter, the magical and still reasonable limit of ten thousand has been greatly exceeded. Is the C650 GT worth 12 grand? If you drive an X6 and have a Z4 in your garage, there's no doubt about it.

And what does the lady say? She doesn't think she should be with her, but in principle she would approve of the purchase ...
