Test: BMW G 310 GS (2020) // BMW from India. Something is wrong?

In all honesty, although his family has off-road roots, the smallest member is not born for off-road driving. Dislikes dust and dirt, prefers asphalt. The single-cylinder engine of a simple design with a volume of 313 cubic centimeters is quite powerful - just over 34 "horsepower". and nervous to be impressed by riding with him through the city crowd, a young man who comes to school or college from the outskirts of the city may also decide to take him.

Driving performance on the road is expected. Thanks to the steel tubular frame, I especially praise the passage of turns and jumps, but at the same time you need to squeeze the throttle pretty much. The center of gravity is low enough so that the motorcycle's offset is not a problem. Don't expect the latest technology from this bike, because it doesn't need them. However, it has an inverted fork with a diameter of 42 millimeters, which provides enough stiffness when braking and cornering and is decent for road riding, but on the ground I did not drive them unconscious.

There, the 19-inch front wheel is sure to appeal to off-road enthusiasts. Of course, also worth mentioning is the switchable ABS and the rear shock absorbing bumps well enough to make driving comfortable.if we do not drive the motorcycle in a sporty ride. With the dimensions of the triangle: steering wheel - pedals - the seat will be easier to live, overgrown below, slightly curved above, too low above the steering wheel. If your height is above 180 cm, a handlebar brace will help you a lot.

Youthful fresh, with Indian stamp

After two years, the appearance still looks youthful. (the color palette has changed slightly this year), the genes of the family are very recognizable with typical design moves with a front "beak" that is an extension of the shield. A family nose, one might say. Um, why is BMW even rushing into this segment where fishermen are among students, motorcyclists and less demanding motorcyclists?

That's why and because of them... The smallest GS is produced in India, where the Bavarians signed a cooperation agreement with the TVS Motor Company brand in 2013.and part of the strategic positioning is also entering the segment of motorcycles with aggregates less than 500 cubic centimeters. For reference: TVS produces about two million two-wheelers a year (!) And generates about a billion traffic (before the crisis).

Well, this is not like blowing your nose over the Indians, although they have left an unmistakable mark on the motorcycle anyway. Fuel consumption is slightly more than three liters, or rather 3,33 liters per hundred kilometers. If 11 liters go into the fuel tank, the calculation is clear, isn't it ?! So it all depends on your viewing angle.

final grade

If you are a young motorcyclist and your dad has a home in the GS garage, you should be able to place this little brother decently next to the one mentioned. Really accessible, especially if you don't mind coming from the south instead of the north. Decent machine for daily commutes to school and afternoon wanderings.
